Is anyone familiar with the AIMS program held in Austria? It is for college age singers and instrumentalists. It looks excellent, but we do not know anyone who has participated. Any information would be much appreciated.

No direct experience, but from what I understand it is pretty pricey and if you dont yet have "game" yet, the opportunities to sing in concert may be few. But then again, I suppose that would describe a lot of other summer programs as well.

I don't know about voice, but the string players are routinely recruited from Europe's top conservatoires, from schools in London, Germany, etc.

S attended AIMS as a rising high school junior 5 1/2 years ago and participated in the Concert Studio. He was invited by Nora Sands, one of the founders and the director at the time. There were very few pre-college participants, and though he had an outstanding experience, he by no means exhausted the resources of the program. The program is best for emerging pros who have completed their training and are ready for major networking. I do not know how effective that part of the program is, but S would definitely consider going again if he decides to attempt a career in Europe (and if he can get money to go).
