Air Conditioning in Dorms

Which dorms do not have air conditioning? On the Rutgers website if Air Conditioning or Air Cooled (whatever that is) is not listed under amenities does that mean that the dorm has no air conditioning? If so, it looks like most of them have none.

Most of the dorms are older and do not have A/C. It should indicate ‘air cooling’ in the description if they have it. On Livi and Busch, Quads, Lynton Towers, Davidson, no. BAMM yes.

You are correct in that if it is not listed, it does not have it. Yes, most dorms do not have air conditioning, but there are some that do (mostly on Busch).

There is a distinction between Air Conditioning and Air Cooled. Air Conditioning means that you have a personal A/C unit in your room which you can adjust to any temperature you want throughout the entire year. BEST has this, and I would bet the Livi apartments do as well. Air Cooled is a different system. For the first month or so of school, your A/C unit will blow cold air which you can slightly adjust if you choose to put it on. The unit then switches to providing only heat from around late October to I believe May 1st. This means that during March/April when you know it can get quite hot, you won’t have cold air. So even if your dorm says Air Cooled, you are going to want a fan for the spring before the cold air comes back.

Thanks to both Rualum and Rhetorical13 for your response. That was very helpful. I had hoped that was not the case but so be it.
