Air Force pride

As I’ve been thinking and meditating the past month or so since I’ve gotten my appointment, I really think I’ve finally realized just how much I want USAFA and how much I love it and how thankful I am to have been given the oppertunity to serve my country at such a wonderful institution. I’m not quite sure why I all of a sudden feel so (almost) certain about this, but I really do.

I want to send in my acceptance papers SO badly, but my parents are making me wait until April 1 when I have heard from every place. The more I dwell on it though, the more I realize I don’t WANT any other place. I want USAFA, and I want it NOW! I got into UCSD yesterday, and while my parents were happy, I just sort of went around apathetically, not really caring because my gut was telling me I wouldn’t go.

I guess for this reason I felt inspired to make this little AF banner. I’m using it as a signature on another message board, as well as in my blog. (I don’t know if the AF even uses this motto anymore, but I like the motto and the banner anyway.) If anybody else would like to use it in their journals/sites/sigs/whatever, feel free.

I am so happy about USAFA and just want to share my AF pride!

Vampie,

I certainly understand that your parents want you to make the decision with all the cards on the table. And they may even be a little skeptical about the service academy choice. I certainly was in the beginning.

I was at a presentation this weekend with SA alumni who described this choice as a "calling". It sounds like you've been called. I wish you all the best as you complete the process.

If that's what you want, then go for it. Assuming you do end up coming here, I encourage you to keep that same attitude and remember those reasons. Things here aren't always "pleasant" and many cadets seem to lose sight of why they came here and their purpose of being here. It's what you make of it, although there are definitely worse times than others, haha. ;)

Yaaa!
I decided to go to USAFA about 2 weeks after I got my appointment, even though I'd only heard from 2/3 of the schools to which I applied. I'm so happy this is the place you wanna be, Liz!
