Are you sure about Penn State? I hear it's a "Stats" university (like UCB/UCLA) and unfortunately for me they don't recalculate GPA, so they will use my 3.42.

I have to apologize for not being able to chance such an awesome titled thread. But I'm a total english\writing person and therefore know next to nothing about engineering schools outside of Caltech and MIT, which I've learned about from being obsessed with CC.

But your title is awesome. (also, some advice on chances threads... no offense, but your thread is kinda a block of text, which might cut down on replies. You could definitely stand to hit the enter key a few more times.

Vis-a-vis Cornell, I know the school some, even if not the school of engineering. It's a possibility, as you're a second-generation Latino (that's like uber-URM!). Your GPA, like mine, will hold you back a little, but given the difficult grading scale, you've got a shot. 25-30% is my guess.

bumpingggg

GA Tech - probably in
VA tech - in
Purdue - in
UIUC - 50/50
Penn State - in
U of Florida - 50/50
Cornell - probably out

^ I'm applying to almost all of those schools

Thanks for the advice. Penn State is probably my #1 choice right now, followed by Georgia Tech and UIUC.

Maybe Cornell if I were to get accepted.

Too bad I was born in the U.S. dumbass.

Someone ban him.

(EDIT: looking at his other posts, he's obviously a troll).

ivyleaguewannabe,

I don't think Garrard is a much better quarterback. I do think he fits the system much better, though.

The offense wasn't built for Leftwich's strengths. What people forget was that he had a winning record as a starter. He was a top ten QB when healthy ('05 season); however, he wasn't healthy often. Look at the '05 season. 3:1 TD to INT ratio. If you look at his career statistics, progression is evident. '05 was his 3rd season and his numbers were great...then he got injured against the Cardinals in week 11, I believe it was. He's a good quarterback, but people are scared to go get him because he's plagued by the injury bug.

Oh, and btw, I'm a Leftwich fan because I've seen every one of his games (including that memorable 2001 GMAC bowl, which I was at). My dad, aunt, & uncle went to Marshall so I grew up watching Marshall football.

Sorry, fin, don't mean to take away from your thread. But hey, atleast it's a bump!

Check out the Penn State admissions chancer I made!

I did say my major at the bottom.

I took the ACT as well (30) but did better on the SAT (2180)

Yeah, sorry, I didn't see the whole second page of this post!!

Anyway, you would probably be accepted at all the schools. UIUC is harder than some realize, however, but you've got some interesting credentials that they would probably want.

Georgia Tech--Reach
Virginia Tech--Safe Match
Purdue - West Lafayette--Safe Match to Match
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign--Match
Pennsylvania State - University Park--Match to Slight Reach
University of Florida--Match to Slight Reach
Cornell--Slight Reach to Reach

P.S. Nice test scores

Your URM status doesn't help you much at any school on this list except maybe Penn State and Cornell, but at Penn State they really like to see a GPA above 3.5--so you are barely there with the Weighted GPA--and the good test score will probably get you in, but I can't really be positive. So write a good essay and spend more time trying to make that application look good.
