Gender: M
Location: Germantown, Tennessee (suburb of Memphis)
GPA: unweighted 3.42/4.0. My school uses a very tough grading system where 93-100 is an A and 85-92 is a B. This year my GPA was a 3.83, so my grades show a definite upward trend. I also go to one of the top 5 public schools in Tennessee. If my GPA was on a 10-point scale it would be about a 3.7 -_-
Class Rank: ~150/566 (won't be sure until next year)
Avg. Grade: 91.68
Honors I've Taken: Honors Geometry, Honors English, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Spanish III, Honors Algebra II, Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors Spanish IV

EC: Member of Model United Nations, member of 30+ Club, member of the high school bowling team. I have been bowling since 2000 and have won numerous citywide and statewide competitions and also a scholarship. I also play tennis and raquetball recreationally. I'm going to 2 engineering-related non-credit summer camps and will spend a total of a month in them.
Other: 2nd statewide in the National Spanish Exam (outside experience category), 2007, National Hispanic Scholar, National Commended Student
Intended Major: Materials Science or Chemical Engineering. I'm very interested in nanotechnology.</p>

<p>Chance me at these schools please (all OOS, and I'm applying to engineering in all)</p>

<p>Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Purdue - West Lafayette
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
Pennsylvania State - University Park
University of Florida
Cornell</p>

<p>no one?????</p>

<p>Alicia Keys, maybe.</p>

<p>argh, no matter what I do I never get replies :(</p>

<p>leftwich, let me guess: you are a rabid colts fan!!!!</p>

<p>(couldn't resist!!!!!!!)</p>

<p>lol. Not a Jags fan anymore since Leftwich is gone. I'll probably become a Titans fan for life if I get into Vanderbilt ED. </p>

<p>I think you may be in at all except Cornell, OP.</p>

<p>Awww that's too bad leftwichqb7. I think garrard is a much better quarterback. Leftwich reminds me of a Culpepper that never had the advantage of a Moss in his entire life. And without any legs, Leftwich is kind of a sitting duck in the pocket. Just my opinion.</p>

<p>On a serious note:
Georgia Tech: in
Virginia Tech: maybe
Purdue - West Lafayette: in
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign: in
Pennsylvania State - University Park: in
University of Florida: in
Cornell: hard to say. You have your URM status and good SAT/ACT, but your GPA is low for an ivy. But I think you have a good shot.</p>

<p>Thanks. I really hope my class rank doesn't hurt me that much, because that's definitely my weakest stat.</p>

<p>b u m p</p>

<p>double bump</p>

<p>seriously? nothing?</p>

<p>I think you'd be in at all of them. Cornell is a reach though. GPA's not too attractive but you can probably write a killer essay.</p>

<p>In everywhere.</p>

<p>@leftwichqb7 - God, I've read through your other threads and you're so hilarious and off-beat...</p>

<p>Going back to the chances...</p>

<p>I think you have a really good chance at the ones you want to apply to except for Cornell. You certainly have a chance at getting into Cornell, but not as much compared to other schools.</p>

<p>LOL. Thanks, Ray J. Did you see the bumpalicious post? </p>

<p>Once again, fin, it looks good except for Cornell due to rank and gpa. (I'm helping you bump, btw!).</p>

<p>Why yes, leftwichqb7, I have, and I was deeply inspired. I bumped the thread as you wish.</p>

<p>The middle 50% of engineering students at UIUC are in the 90-98% in their class, so I'm not so sure about that...</p>

<p>bump, want more opinions on UIUC engineering</p>

<p><em>sigh</em> bump...</p>

<p>Georgia Tech-match
Virginia Tech-match (ROTC u go full ride from what i've heard)
Purdue - West Lafayette match
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign match
Pennsylvania State - University Park match (safety)
University of Florida match
Cornell- reach</p>

<p>u're in at every college except Cornell, but it's an ivy so its a crapshoot for everyone, u cant be too sure though. I would give it a try u might make it (URM)</p>
