Hey! I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the University of Alabama and University of Mississippi MT programs?
Chances of getting in?
Etc....
Thanks :)

I don’t know much about Mississippi, but I’ve heard great things about University of Alabama, especially in regards to have a strong dance component to their MT program. I don’t know about chances, but you may look back a few threads because I know there was a U of A thread somewhere around here…

Also, as for Mississippi, I- once again- don’t know much about it, but there was a guy on the facebook group who had been accepted into quite a few top-notch programs (including UArts, which he said he was going to attend) but then something happened and he ended up going to U of Miss. Not as a fallback, but because he fell in love with the school over the other ones he’d been accepted to. So that definitely says something!

Plus, I believe they’re both state schools (correct me if I’m wrong anyone) which means… cheaper tuition (sometimes)! Yay!

StageStar - You can use the search function to find more info about Alabama (go to the main MT page and in the upper right you will see “Search this Forum”) There is a CC member BruceWayne5148 who has posted about the U of A MT program. Here is one link to a message board about their program:

I know people who are very happy at AL, which is a fairly new program. I’ve heard mixed things about Mississippi. It may be a program where you don’t have to audition immediately but where they do cuts later on. Double check this if you visit there. My son worked with a graduate from there one summer who was very good. You might want to look at Belmont in Nashville, which isn’t too far away!
