Of these 4 schools how would you guys rate:
The Professors
The Campus
The Students
and the internship opportunities of these 4 schools?

I want to major in either device engineering (consumer elec.), astronomy, computer science, business, or a double major in two of them.

I got into albany school of business, oneonta with a full tuition scholarship, and stony brook so far.

Any recommendations for me?

I would hold off till you receive any other scholarship offers…Albany, Stony brook and Binghamton send their scholarships out probably within the next week or two…these three schools are NYS universities; whereas Oneonta is a college (not to say one is much better than the others)…Oneonta does have a strong astronomy and cs programs…you should probably look at all the schools to see how you like them…my kid goes to SBU and so far loves it…first year now…some of the first year classes such as sciences and maths (calc) are pretty big ~200+ in lecture halls…so you would have to take that into consideration…but the profs do hold study sessions and do have office hours and are accessible via email…the SBU campus has decent food choices and there are definitely research opptys if you apply yourself…I don’t know much about albany…Binghamton is good as well…i don’t think they have huge class sizes (not sure)…I heard oneonta is a in a great quaint town and enyone who goes there loves the school! if money is an issue then you truly can’t beat that scholarship that you rec’d.

@chocmilk - when I was staying the week with my cousin who graduated Binghamton two years ago, her biochem class was a 300 person lecture. When I sat through the class the foreign teacher with a horrible accent was going over a test which most people failed, lol.

@OP, can’t help you seeing as I’ve only been to Albany & Binghamton out of the four mentioned. I personally like Albany over Bing, taking into consideration surrounding town, campus, etc. Bing are better known for academics, but when it boils down to it you’ll receive a fine education at either of them, and ultimately other factors such as campus, school spirit, etc. should be influencing your decision as well. I recommend visiting them all to truly get a feel for the campus. Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies guys!

I should have also included that I am a huge fan of smaller classes. I am a very shy kid who does play a lot of video games. I do not want to stay at home though and was wondering if anyone who goes to either of these schools tell me how their peers are in these schools.

Also which one has better internet service?

my kid who’s in sbu; i believe it’s alot of gaming going on…so i think the internet speed is fast there…but like i said it’s a big school with many students, grad students, etc…Oneonta is fairly small compared to that…Also, i think some of Stony brook’s wireless interenet is not all the best; some of the dorms can’t get wireless…this is only what i have heard…she’s in a corridor style building with the scholars…so many are heavy internet gamers and i also saw students in rooms playing tv video games, such as xbox, etc.

thanks choc. I am actually going to be deciding against sbu because they aren’t well known for the majors i want to pursue. Plus stony is too close from home and binghamton seems to be overcrowded.

sounds good ddkshah - we’ll be visiting oneonta in april with kid 2 who was accepted there and seems to be first choice

yea i’m gonna have to do the same thing. I talked to a few old teachers that went there and they say that oneonta has the best campus and landscape out of the 4 colleges. Plus oneonta is getting a better rep and are being more competitive.
