Alchohol/Drugs

Cornell students are very nice and tolerant. Nobody is going to push you to do things, and if they do and you say no and they still persist, they're probably not the best friends.

Make sure not to misconstrue somebody OFFERING for you to smoke or drink or do whatever with them as them pressuring you to. What they're doing in that case is being nice and friendly. If you say that's not your thing and they seriously pressure you to after that, THEN you know you're dealing with some jerks, and not people you'd want to hang out with anyway. Nobody in your dorm is going to pressure you to do things you don't want. Cornell is very big on tolerance.

haha, i said cornell is big on tolerance...alcohol...tolerance...get it? ;) wow i crack myself up

I'm working on operation reduce the tolerance to one that isn't comparable with that of a 200 pound alcoholic man. Hopefully I'll be better before break is over.

thanks a lot guys... i don't know what i would do without u guys... i still didn't get tolerance/ alcohol joke sparticus...

tolerance is when you drink alcohol for a prolonged period of time and it takes you progressively increasing amounts of alcohol to get drunk, because your nervous system becomes accoustomed to it and more is needed to produce the desired effect.

i thought it was very witty sparty, good job :)

It was actually one of those jokes you make and then realize later that you actually made it.

Anybody know about the availability/popularity of xanax?

I've never even heard of it...it sounds like something prescription...

Xanax is popular in my town, but I haven't heard of people at Cornell using it. I'm sure you could find it, someone must have a perscription.

Sparticus- It's an antidepressant that really gets you messed up if you drink with it. Most people who take it say it makes them black out, so I don't really see the point. Friends I know who have done it find it enjoyable. I haven't tried it, though, so I can't tell you much about it.

It is the ****. It's kind of like alcohol, but if you take more than one xanax bar, you do black out. You get so relaxed and it's a wonderful feeling. Kind of like a really strong percocet.

you will find that most cornellians aren't into hard drugs. alcohol and pot is the limit for most, though i suppose a greater number may try something once over the course of their time in ithaca.

Drinking is just fine for me.

see, proof of my point. haha, "proof"...wow...i'm all about the horrible alcohol jokes today....

sparticus, as soon as i saw proof, i thought to myself, "oh god, no," and as I read on I said, "I knew it," usually i have a temperance for talking about some elses posts, but this time i just had to give it a shot

stop the madness i can't handle it! AAAAAAAAAH I SAID "HANDLE!" (for serious, that was unintentional, no joke)

Oh god, stop the bad alcohol jokes!

haha i think they're funny!

I don't see much Xanax. Vicodin and Adderall are MUCH more popular. Percocet is between Xanax and the previous two.Not many people deal things like that though, you're more likely to find it from someone who had his wisdom teeth pulled and has left overs. Except for adderall, there is some crazy adderall abuse at this school. But not recreational, alot of people use it to study. I've never tried it but I know so many people who do, I could get some anywhere in Ithaca at any hour within 15 minutes.

Arjun, Indian colleges are going to be a lot worse mate. In America they do drink and stuff, but in India, you're gonna be ragged whether you like it or not. Over there they usually let you do your thing. And just in case you didn't know, the drug problem here is much worse than over there. Every second person in my junior college is a boozer or druggie, Ive still managed to find friends who I'm comfortable around.

And ragging's a purely Indian phenomenon. If you decide to stay back home, you better be tall or hang out at the gym all day...

havaldaar's absolutely right about the ragging. But I'm not too sure about the drugs. My freinds do pot, but nothing else or if so, rarely. It's hard to find hard drugs other than coke, or so i've heard.

Hey havaldaar, where r u from?
