Alcohol Edu, Actually Necessary?

I recently received the email from UT, but have heard from current Austin students that the course is not actually required.

Any thoughts on the benefits/repercussions of taking or not taking this course?

Also, how long does it take?

Just get it over with.
It took me a little less than an hour. The videos will make you want to fall asleep. But it’s easy enough to do with your eyes closed.

Less than an hour? Alright, thats not a big deal. Appreciate it.

Somebody on this forum was unable to check their grades online after exams because they didn’t complete it

If you don’t complete it Freshman year you will get your Spring 2012 grades held and you will receive a registration bar on Fall 12. Like the poster above said. Just get it over with.

It definitely won’t hurt. I don’t know why people complain about it so much. Sure, it’s boring, and you probably already know all of the information, but UT has good intentions.

Maybe I’m remembering wrong, but I think it actually took me several hours to complete, and then later on in the semester you have the follow-up modules that take some time too. I’m totally ignorant when it comes to alcohol so it was exhausting and boring for me, but in any case, it’s obligatory, and like the others have said, you’ll have registration/grade problems if you don’t do it.

It took me a lazy two hours. You can find all the answers online for the final exam with half a second of googling.

Edit: I only completed the first “module” though, another one becomes available later this year.

The majority of it is video clips. I just opened two windows and did other stuff while the clips were playing, haha.
