Alcohol edu?

So I was gone the entire time from the time it opened to the deadline part 1 had to be completed by. Am I totally screwed? Is it bad if I finish part 1 late?

You can skip it entirely and there’s zero consequences if you don’t get in any alcohol-related trouble. (Although if you do get into alcohol related trouble, your problems will be exacerbated).

That’s a relief. I’m not a drinker and I don’t plan on becoming one at school, but I’ll complete it anyway…

yeah Aedu is ‘mandatory’ just as reading the summer book is ‘mandatory’ (i was the only person i know who actually read it; decent book, i’m not too big of a fan of Eggers. tbh, i’d rather read the one they have on Henrietta Lacks this summer)

I am by no means the party type or a drinker but I haven’t done it at all and I am interested in knowing what kind of trouble I’ll be in for if I do get in trouble and didn’t finish it vs. if I did.

I’m waiting to see how many to see how many of you guys change your mind about drinking once you’re here haha.

I had no idea they punished you more severely if you didn’t take the class? getting caught with alcohol in the dorms usually means a slap on the wrist and sometimes watching a boring video.

gatos, I’m not going to change my mind about drinking when I get to UCLA. I have done it before with friends and in social environments, it’s not as if I am an alcohol virgin. I just don’t plan on being crazy at UCLA.

you will drink at some point. trust me

^Trust him.

^Trust him.

In kenshinx08 we trust

there’s nothing wrong with a bit of drinking as long as you can keep it under control (e.g. alcoholism doesn’t run in your family) I was drinking as young as 15, but i did it extremely sparingly (like once a year.) Since i’ve been at UCLA i’ve drank on maybe 3 occasions in the whole year, and was only drunk like once (at a birthday party i threw for myself which was after the academic year had already ended.

just use your best judgment and you should be fine.

I wasn’t implying in my post that I wouldn’t drink. In fact I trust kenshin that I will drink because I know I will. I just don’t plan on doing “anything crazy” which has a big chance of getting caught is what I meant to convey.

I drink infrequently. I get drunk even less frequently. BUT, trust me when I say that there is absolutely nothing more fun than consuming 6-7 shots with some friends right before undie run and just shamelessly ripping it wild to cap off a quarter.

I’m really looking forward to my first undie run myself. I hope it’s as wild as it looks.

I got caught with alcohol and I never did alcohol edu. There was no additional consequence.

I got an email today saying they extended the deadline, so if you want to do it you still can.

Hint for incoming freshmen: If they say something is mandatory, it probably isn’t unless they mention specific consequences of not doing it.
