oh, that reading... i haven't started it yet, but your comment, anirudh, sounds very encouraging... now i'll need two more weeks to psyche myself and start it :).... travelling, well, i'll have 3 flights and then some type of transportation from syracuse to the college, doesn't that seem like a lot of fun ;)? as for the suitcases and luggage, there are so many things that i want to take with me, but the thought of having all of them stuffed in a tiny dorm room is scary enough :) so, i guess the comp and some clothes will do... may the force be with you in the visa&ticket-getting-process, everything will work out, don't worry :)!

Thank you! I've just got the date of my visa interview, it's July 24, a month before the orientation. Maybe I'm getting a bit crazy with this stuff but to me it looks symbolic (hopefully for the good:))
Regarding Mountains beyond Mountains, I've read only 5 chapters by now. I think it's a perfect way to recall almost ALL SAT words and the hard times of learning them:)
anirudh_22, how do you plan to get to Syracuse? by bus?

sat words, right, it is a perfect way to recall them, but i think i'm learning lots of new ones, especially medical terms and stuff like that; it is a strange book, don't you think? sometimes i stop to remind myself that it is non-fiction...
anyway, i can't believe that it's only a month and a half left till i get to colgate, our future new home ;):) ; can't wait to meet you both there!good luck with all the preparations and prearrangements!

lets stop this discussion about Mountains beyond Mountains.. really there will be enough time to criticize this book at Colgate... and believe me I am going to spend a lot of my energy blasting the book to hell.. :) :)
So.. what on the shopping list for you ppl.. did you get the linen brochure from Colgate.. seems expensive to me considering its available for one-tenth the price in my country :) :) the advantages of a developing country :) .. Maria.. I haven't made any plans about geting to Syracuse yet.. just waiting for my Visa first...
<quote> can't wait to meet you both there </quote>
yeh facebook isn't enough :) :).... wish time flew :)

i'm sure that when you asked to stop the discussion about the book, you didn't mean to end all discussions in this thread, but it seems like it's dying :(:( - that's not good
what's on my shopping list: clothes, clothes, clothes and current adapter; i don't think i'll be buying the linen from here cuz with so much traveling i certainly don't want to stuff my suitcases with something that i can get there easily enough - yes, the prices in the brochure are quite high, but i think u can get the sheets & towels at more reasonable prices once u get there, so, i won't bother about them; certainly, no books or stationery though i'd like to... so, what r u bringing?

I definitely did NOT mean to kill the discussions... and lets open the book again if it leads to more posts.. atleast Dr. Farmer can make this board alive :)

As for the shopping list I guess its gonna be 20 kgs of clothes :) ... i'll probably carry most of my linen.... since its real cheap in my country.. but yeah basically clothes... and though I to want to carry books etc. but I guess i'll buy these over there.. dunno what else.. will get down to making a list soon ..

anybody started working on the letter we are supposed to write to the academic adviser?

hehe... three internationals!!.. way to go!!

hi ahtisab.. well so any pointers for us internationals.. what shd go in in the limited space in our suitcases?? what shd we expect when we get there? etc

here it goes again:

Warm clothes

Snow

I know its the 83475th time you have seen that... but cant emphasize that more....Dont be worried... It'll be a good time..

Seriously, when you get here, get a GOOD pair of boots with heavy treads on the bottom for those icy walks on the hill (yes, there are railings but you never know)
