All NJ Students: Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars

Did anyone else get this in the mail today? How many people get it and is it really an accomplishment or just a random award that doesn't matter?

Dear Scholar:

Congratulations! You have been selected as an Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholar for the 2005-06 academic year. This award recognizes your secondary school academic achievement.

Through the leadership of Acting Governor Richard J. Codey, New Jersey is providing scholarships to support the best and brightest New Jersey students in pursuit of their higher education goals. The Governor, who sponsered the NJ STARS Program in the Senate, recognizes that investing in our students will ensure the future economic prosperity of the State.

The Distinguished Scholars Program provides a $1,000 annual scholarship, without regard to financial need. This scholarship may be available for up to four years of undergraduate study at a New Jersey college or university, if funds are appropriated by the Legislature each year. You must enroll full time during the 2005-06 academic year at a New Jersey college or university to receive payment of this award. You will permanently lose your eligibility for the Distinguished Scholar award if you do not receive payment of the scholarship in 2005-06.
