Did anybody else get this scholarship (not really affiliated with Rutgers)? It says that it gives $1000 annually if I go to school in NJ--which I am. Does Rutgers know about the scholarship and automatically reduce tuition costs, or should I tell them about it?

The amount should be in your financial aid letter automatically.
The actual amount for Rutgers is $930 per year, according to my son's letter
from Rutgers

Edward J Bloustein Scholar for 2006-2007 $1000, 2007-2008 $930, 2008-2009$?????

I got it too! Rutgers will automatically deduct the amount from your tuition. However, the state is having trouble with this program plus NJSTARS and NJSTARSII and my understanding is that it's in danger for the future.

The Bloustein Award is treated differently at different NJ schools. For example, at Rutgers if you also receive an academic scholarship for $4500, Rutgers considers the Bloustein to be inlcluded in the $4500. The $1000 Bloustein award now reduces the Rutgers Academic scholarship be $3500.

However, if you go to Seton Hall (private) on a full academic scholarship, they will refund you the Bloustein money to use for books and other expenses. Not really fair but true. When the Bloustein Award was reduce below $1000 this year I called Rutgers to say my d's academic award was for $4500 and the university needed to make up the $70. They said no until I faxed a copy of letter stated her award. I had learned this happened to a cousin at TCNJ so I kne what to do. Call financial aide and ask.
