All the right reasons

I want to transfer from UC Davis to UC Berkeley. I'm shooting for economics and was looking toward journalism/nonprofit work and eventually graduate school. I was hoping that you CCers would help me decide whether I had all the right reasons for wanting to transfer:

-UCB has a phenomenal and world renowned economics dept, and I sure won't waste that resource
-I like Davis itself, but the Bay Area would have more professional opportunities in the career pathway that I'm leaning towards
-Though UCD is no small matter, I want to be in an academically charged environment that I hope Cal will provide
-I know people might say that what really counts is grad school, but I want to get the best out of my undergrad years if I can help it

I don't expect to get the benefits of a UCB student without working hard to belong there, I'm just not sure whether it's worth it.

You have good reasons, however you might have a better chance if you finish your undergrad at UC Davis, and apply to Berkeley’s graduate program. You would need top-notch grades if you want to just transfer between schools right now. I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m just saying it would be less stressful and probably more productive if you stay here at Davis.

There’s no doubt about that ^ But I don’t mind stress if it means getting the most out of my education

Go for it… Don’t ask me to chance you! :)
