All Year College Thread.

@shawnspencer - I know, watching everyone effortlessly walk backwards is impressive, haha. At my school we get paid $11 an hour along with free gear, so the competition is really intense and we have to go through several rounds of interviews as well.

Schedule-wise I usually have lab or research in the mornings, and then more classes in the afternoon. Because most of my teachers post slides and lectures online, sometimes I take a little liberty with my attendance…

@preamble1776‌ Looks like we’re in the same boat! I think I might just get an early “brunch” at the dining halls at like 10:20 or so and survive until dinner. The dining hall stops making food at like 2:00

I am really looking forward to next semester! The course content seems fascinating, especially native american history, and the professors all have rave reviews on ratemyprofessor hehe. I might drop biocultural anthropology if turns out to be too much, because I’m just taking that one for fun, but that would still leave most of my classes condensed on Tuesday/Thursday. Oh well. It looks like you are also in an IR class! Are you doing that as a major, a GER, or just for kicks?

@Coriander23 That’s really good pay to be a tour guide!‌ I’ve been practicing since middle school for this moment haha. In PE no one took gym seriously, so I jogged backwards on the track while talking to my friends. So far I’ve only “accidentally” skipped classes, by sleeping through the morning ones. Thankfully they were fairly straightforward and also uploaded online

@shawnspencer‌ - Unfortunately my school’s dining hall stops making breakfast at 10am and it doesn’t start lunch until 11 - so I either have to show up early and have breakfast or just deal until I get home (at like 4pm.) My school has a Biological Anthropology course that I was going to take as a general ed but I have another class (Calculus) which fulfills two requirements, including the aforementioned general ed, so I decided against registering for BioAnthro.

IR is a requirement for my major as well as a general ed, I’m pretty excited about it. I might declare a minor/concentration in it.

Meh here are my classes: (CS -> 2018)

Programming Methodology
Intro to Computation
Multivar Calc
Intro Psych
2 1-credit seminars

SO, one of my professors sent out his syllabus and I already am getting bad vibes… his syllabus is written as if we were children…

On the other note I learned a lot about my school from my tour guide packet, like it is one of the 2% of schools worldwide that is business and accounting certified.

I got the syllabus for my Calculus class today - along with a bunch of supplementary material, like “10 ways to excel at Calculus” and some links to different academic/college organization blogs. A quiz every week kind of makes me nervous. I’m getting a head start on some of the assigned readings/problem sets.

I haven’t gotten any assignments yet. My syllabus just talks about the topic we’ll be covering in class. I’m super excited for my education course. I had this professor my first semester and she is the sweetest human being ever. She’s this lady from Kansas and she said, and I quote “If you ever need a shoulder to cry on, or are stressed out about finals I’m here for you! You can come into my office and we’ll have some tea and cookies”

Ugh she’s the best lol

I’m class of 2015 and in addition to classes, I workas a card swiper in a dining court, am working on a gokart for a race in April and studying for the FE and applying for jobs.

Then I work on Saturday nights from 4-9

So it’s a busy semester but not by normal standards. It’ll be academically chill but everything else is gonna add a lot of extra stress.

Debating whether or not we should move into here…I want to talk to the fresh meat.

Go to bed, Vctory. Clearly you’re out of it if you want to talk to frosh.

Freshmen have meal plans. Why shouldn’t he want to talk to them?

@preamble1776 - LOL.

I’m currently in the library waiting to blow through my last three classes of the semester and start SUMMER!

@preamble1776 I don’t even remember being up at 3:30am last night. I was working on homework all night, but it feels like I went to bed at midnight. I just woke up and all of my hw was done.

But this might let us talk to SENIORS.!>!>!>!!! Upperclassmen! I see potential.

HS senior here.

I’m going to my state school and can’t wait to start. My orientation is on the 27th of May and that’ll be the first time I step on campus, lol.

I’m transferring from my VERY expensive private school to a state school. Major was the main reason- sole reason at the time but then tuition increased…

@stugace That’s awesome! I love my state school!

Might get a taste of the real world this summer (living in a different city, working, paying rent, etc. etc. w/ no crutch). Very excited
