All Year College Thread.

I thought that we could post anything on here, stuff from both, soon to be 3 college classes. I am in the class of 2017 but my thread is inactive, however, I would still like to talk to other college students so this can be where we all talk

I’ll start, what’s everyone’s schedule looking like? I don’t go back to school until the 26th; my schedule is:

M: 4:35-6:00 Geography of NY

T: 10:05-12:05 Understanding Schools 2
1:50-3:15 U.S in the Era of FDR
6:10-9:00 Child Psychology

W: 1:20-4:20 Ethnic and Racial Minorities
4:35-6:00 Geography of NY

R: 10:05-12:05 Understanding Schools 2
1:50-3:15 US in the Era of FDR

F: NO CLASS

I’m most excited about my education course (The prof is the most amazing human being EVER!) and the FDR course (history nerd here!)

:-"

I start on the 26th as well (for some reason I kept thinking Monday was the 27th) - anyways, here’s my schedule
MW
11:00-11:50 Calculus I
12:00-12:50 International Relations
TTh
11:00-12:15 New Testament
12:30-1:45 Freshman Seminar: Gender
2:00-3:15 Jerusalem
F
10:00-11:50 Calculus I
12:00-12:50 International Relations Discussion

I’m most excited for my religion classes.

Hey there! 2018’er here.

My class schedule this quarter is pretty light–I’m taking Psych 101, Geology 101, and Introduction to Music as well as being a research assistant in a lab. I’ve also applied to a few on-campus jobs, so we’ll see how that goes.

Very cool! (Both of you  ) I recently got a job as a tour guide. This semester is going to be a busy one for me. I might be pledging and I have a second job at a daycare and I have to go to physical therapy

I’m taking 19 credits this semester… I started out as a Mechanical Engineering major but I’m thinking about switching to Civil Engineering. 3 of my classes count for both majors, and I am taking one class for each major so that I am not behind no matter which way I decide to go.

MWF
8:00 - 8:50 Calculus II
9:00 - 9:50 Science of Materials
3:00 - 3:50 Honors Physics I

TR
8:00 - 8:50 Calculus II
9:30 - 10:45 Honors African History
11:00 - 12:15 Civil Engineering Graphics
2:00 - 3:50 Honors Physics Lab (Tuesday only)

It’ll be a tough semester with 19 credits, but I’m pretty excited anyways. I’m a total science nerd and love physics  l’ve heard that CE Graphics is a fun class, too. And as weird as it is for an engineer to enjoy history, I love it. Would get a minor in it if I could! And African history should be really interesting since it’s not anything I ever covered in high school (except Egypt of course).

M:
9:30-11:20 Multiculturalism in Education
11:30-12:20 Honors Seminar
12:30-1:20 Spanish Level IV

11:30-12:20 Honors Seminar
12:30-1:20 Spanish Level IV
1:30-2:20 Mathematics for Elementary Education III

R:
12:00-1:15 Introduction to the Modern World

F:
9:30-11:20 Introduction to Education as a Career
12:30-1:20 Spanish Level IV
1:30-2:20 Mathematics for Elementary Education III

I work a couple shifts per week/on the weekend and also assist a professor by doing a few hours of work per week. So far it seems like a very doable schedule. Last semester I had a class that equaled half my work load from that semester! This time it seems like everything is much less stressful.

You’re schedule is pretty full. I’m glad that my classes are mostly lumped together and 3 at most, and even that is a lot IMO, I couldn’t imagine 4 @runner019

@Jazzii Most of them don’t have too much homework, though! For the two seminars pretty much everything is in class. It looks like a million credits but it’s only 17!

This is a fairly light semester as far as the number of hours go. Only 13 hours.

I’m really liking my schedule thus far. The classes are really interesting, and the times are just about perfect for both my productivity and for not going back and forth between campus and my apartment.

I’m a work study in the math/science tutoring center at my school, so I basically give them my schedule and my hours of availability, and they put together a work schedule that works for me. That has definitely made it a lot easier to work and go to classes at the same time.

My job has some other perks. I work until 8 pm three nights a week, and a lot of the time we’re really slow after 6 pm or so. If nobody needs help, then I can get paid to hang out and study or do my homework. It’ll be a little rough this semester though. I work until 8 pm on Monday, and then I come in at 8 am on Tuesday. I’m not a morning person unfortunately…lol

Class of 2015 here.

My university runs on a quarter system, and this quarter I have JPN 112: Modern Japanese Reading & Discussion everyday except Thursday from 1:10 to 2pm, JPN 151: Japanese Linguistics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:10 to 6pm, and Upper Division Writing Composition on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:10 to 4:30pm. So it’s a pretty light schedule. I wish I didn’t have to take the writing class, but its required of all studentsvin order to graduate unless they take the writing exam and pass it. I took the exam last quarter and failed it, so that’s why I’m taking the class.

Wow, we’ve got all four classes represented here! Glad to see some CC veterans sticking around.

@Jazzii - I’m actually interviewing for a campus tour guide position next week! It sounds really fun, although I’m hoping to start off spring quarter as a welcome center greeter before working my way up to hosting information sessions and everything.

LOL my friend (a Freshman) got a job as a campus tour guide like two weeks into his first semester and I was so confused because I’m entering second semester and I still have trouble getting around most of the buildings.

I’m Class of 2018. I’ll be taking three classes that add up to the minimum number of units I can take. Last semester I took 18 units, and had a work study job, and I kind of died. This coming semester, I am seeing what “adjusting to college” should’ve been like. I’m on the waitlist for Intro to Linguistics, but if I get in, I’m dropping the alternate class I’m enrolled in, an English class. The other two classes I’m taking are Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, and an intro CS class. I’ll have a work study job as well. I want to get involved with more clubs because last semester I was simply too busy. I’m excited for the next semester but I’m not really sure why.

Class of 2018er as well!

@Jazzii‌ Nice! I’d love to be a tour guide, I know much more unusual fun facts about the school than the average person and I can walk backwards pretty well. My tour guide was pretty influential in my decision to come. The only downside is that our tour guides don’t get paid, so I’d essentially go through several rounds of interviews to be a volunteer.

I am taking 17 credits this semester.

Monday: Ballroom Dance II, Biocultural Anthropology
Tuesday: Native American History, Intermediate International Relations, Marx and Nature
Wednesday: Ballroom Dance II, Biocultural Anthropology, Special seminar, Environmental Governance
Thursday: Native American History, Intermediate International Relations, Marx and Nature
Friday: Biocultural Anthropology, Environmental Governance

I love the classes in my schedule, but the middle of the week will be significantly more dense than the beginning and the end. 11-3:20 on T/TR with no breaks, meh.

My schedule this semester is kind of insane and i know I’m gonna die. Its 6.75 units, which is 23.635 credits (1 unit = 3.5 credits), with a lot of things not for credit. Im a freshman.

Monday: Music Theory (1 unit), Discrete Structures (1 unit, CS), Global medicine (1 unit required seminar), musical Rehearsal (March-April only)

Tuesday: Modern Dance (auditing), wellness topic (Feb only), Abstract Math (1 unit), Rep class (music major/minor requirement), Orchestra (.5 unit), musical Rehearsal (March-April only)

Wednesday:Music Theory (1 unit), Discrete Structures (1 unit, CS), Global medicine (1 unit required seminar), musical Rehearsal (March-April only)

Thursday: Modern Dance (auditing), wellness topic (Feb only), Abstract Math (1 unit), Chamber music, Band, musical Rehearsal (March-April only)

Friday:Music Theory (1 unit), Discrete Structures Lab (1 unit, CS), musical Rehearsal (March-April only)

Sunday: musical Rehearsal (March-April only)

TBA: Chamber music coaching, primary private lessons (.5 unit), secondary private lessons (.5 unit), and jazz combo

Results for the musical don’t come out until tuesday, but this is assuming im in the cast. I also have a job as a grader for the CS department which is gonna take a lot of time because I grade all the homework for both sections of one the the classes.

@shawnspencer‌ - I have 11:00-3:15 T/Th with no breaks as well. I’m going to one of those wholesale stores and buying a jumbo box of granola bars to pack in my bag every T/Th morning to get me through. Also, your schedule seems really, really interesting. I’d love to take all of those classes.

@guineagirl96‌ - What’s your major, if you don’t mind me asking? A lot of STEM + Arts altogether, seems exciting (and a little intimidating) lol.

I start next Monday (the Monday after this one) - I’ve kind of grown tired of winter break. I’m not even doing anything interesting anymore - I’m literally either sleeping or on Pinterest everyday.

@preamble1776‌ math, cs, and either a major in music theory/comp or a minor in music (I have to at least minor for my scholarship).
