From Maleah's mom...
I am curious about the responses for this question. Should be interesting. :)Students vs. Parents!

If my daughter has the 7 day meal plan, and we are paying for everything related to academics, housing, laundry etc...Any school related expense...

BIG QUESTION: How much money should we give her for "miscellaneous" each week?

I am thinking money for going out on weekends, a few times eating out, Starbucks, manicures, miscellaneous spending money.... WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?

I am really clueless. This is my one and only in college.. ever! We are not rolling in money, but not poor either... so keep that in mind with your answers. :)

Thanks,
Maleah's mom

Laundry - It's 1 dollar per load for washing, 50 cents for 20 minutes for drying. I ended up spending 2.50 for whites/darks and 2.00 for towels (I did laundry once a week).

As for spending money, if she actually eats the meal plan at least Mon-Fri lunch, she probably won't need more than $20 for food and going out on the weekends. I usually put 50 bucks into my bulldog bucks account at a time, and I did that about twice a month (if not less than that). You can use that money for most vending machines, printers, and a few places off campus.

Thank you! Is the BB card hooked up to an account that just comes from the college acct. system? It's not tied directly to a real bank account is it? ( I am sure we will find this out in July when we go to orientation.) Thanks again.

You'll go to the bulldog bucks office (near the bookstore) and make an account. The account is separate from any bank account.
