Is $200 of allowance a month too much for a senior in high school? I've never gotten any allowance before, but I have been paying for basically everything such as food, haircuts, school finances such as ap tests, etc. Today my dad offered me 200 in allowance a month but I feel like I can't accept the money since he doesn't make too much money. Yet my dad says it's fine...
What's a reasonable amount of money a person of this age should be getting? Oh and I am not allowed to work.

I received $10 a week and wasn’t allowed to work, though school awards financed textbooks, I didn’t need to pay for AP awards (though I did for prom, class ring, etc.) or food (beyond soda and snack food I bought). You should do out the numbers, see what you do need, and decide for yourself what’s reasonable.

I get 50 dollars a month. But I pay for things like clothes, or video games, etc. All school stuff is covered by my parents. Then again, I don’t require 150 a month for that kind of stuff. In my opinion, you should be getting 100 or 150 a month. Your call.

Before I got a job, I got payed $200 a month.

You could take the $200 and sneak back the extra money back into his wallet at the end of the month. Sure he’d notice, but you can always claim otherwise.

i used to get 30 dollars a month (not alot i know) but it went down to 18 to pay for my texting.

as long as you can trust yourself to use the cash properly, then I don’t see why 200 is a big deal. i mean, whether you have a 100 dollar allowance or 200 dollar allowance, you’d still be spending the same amount. If you feel like you’ve saved more money than you’ll spend, then just give it back to your dad or buy him a really awesome birthday present (;

I think you should accept it- If I read you correctly you pay for food haircuts and school stuff. So you can spend money responsibly- why not:?

I get $40 a month, but it’s for me to spend on anything. I usually spend it on clothes, snacks/lunch at school, and random school fees if they aren’t a giant amount.

I don’t have an allowance:( But my parents do pay for most of my expenses

I get no allowance but when I ask for something, I get it.

I would keep it. Do you have a job? If not, just take it until you get job. Put it in savings.

I have never gotten an allowance, but I pay for all my own stuff. I probably make about $1,000 a month and it still doesn’t cover everything :(. So save it for when you don’t have an allowance!

I never received an allowance, though my dad sometimes gave me $5 for lunch.
