Hey how is everyone doing? I just wanted to get some opinions from some people. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota and joined the military straight out of high school. Now I'm about to separate in December of this year and am not sure which schools I should shoot for. I know I want to go somewhere down south. I can't stand the cold winters anymore. I want to go to a more modern school, however the newer schools like UCF or FGCU don't get much respect outside of the state of Florida. I don't have insane grades either, I've been doing well in college while I've been in the military. My GPA is 3.90 through the University of Marland and I've been able to knock out 20 credit hours. Unfortunately I don't have my associate's degree to make getting into the top notch schools like UF and FSU easier. I also am a huge beach bum, which would make FAU or USF a school that would be enjoyable, but again...no respect for those schools. U of West Florida seems like a nice little school but their school spirit and activities is nothing to gloat about. Maybe someone can help me to narrow down my options? Thanks so much!

I can’t help you at all, but I want to thank you for your service to our country and to wish you luck.

You need to check how your GI Bill will match up with the cost of a FLA school with out of state rates.

And congratulations on that good GPA through University of Maryland!

I appreciate the kudos. I’ll be proud of my time in the military but it’s just time I move on. I really want to go to a school that has a decent city around it too. I visited the University of Southern Mississippi and University of Alabama-Huntsville and was not impressed. Hattiesburg seems like it needs alot of work. And Huntsville seemed way too slow for me. I guess I can’t have my cake and eat it too, but I would like to live in a place that has a little hustle and bustle going on! :-)

Well,

Do you know if schools in TX have what you want? I think the state is very friendly to Military folks.
