alright...a different chance me

So, basically, I have a different story.
In the middle of sophomore year I was diagnosed with ADD (both types) and subsequently began treatment. My freshman year GPA was a 3.8/5, my first semester soph year was the same.

The second semester of soph year was incredibly improved. I had a 4.75/5.00 and scored a 230 on my PSAT (I've always been smart, just distracted).

Junior year, I was able to keep up a 4.8 GPA. 1st sem senior year was a 4.8 as well.

Chance me for NYU/Stern, Northwestern, UIllinois, Vandy, GTown, Boston College?

I’m also Puerto Rican, which I guess might help lol…thank the lord for affirmative action

with that SAT score, and none of those schools being IVY, i think you are MATCH FOR ALL, maybe safetied for a few
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/871323-chances-appreciated-favor-will-returned.html</a></p>

well, i sent out an app to cornell and i havent heard back so im slightly scared, but i was going to take a gap year unless i went d-3 to illinois wesleyan and played baseball. i heard a few things from brown for baseball but i never got something formal.

NYU i’d say is a target, BC a reach but definitely possible to get in. i don’t know enough about the other ones to say anything lol sorry! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/870664-chances-csulb-ucsc-sdsu.html</a></p>

Your SAT’s and AP scores are really a savior for you, it sounds like you have a pretty strong app, especially if you explain in your essays about the diagnosis. That said… saying “thank the lord for affirmative action” is highly offensive and implies exactly what is wrong with the practice.

It was sarcasm…I completely disagree with the practice, but on the other hand it’s helped kids I know who were less-fortunate and didn’t have the head-start in life that some more affluent white kids did. I think I have pretty solid chances for most though…does legacy help at state schools if a parent was a valedictorian?

Hey…I really don’t feel like you’ve accomplished everything you possibly can. I feel like since you are so capable of managing yourself (c’mon! you got AP scores for classes you haven’t even taken!) you should just do more. and a lot of it. destroy yourself. but due to your poor grades, even then, will only one school want to accept you: Cornell.

PS didn’t your mother (puerto rican?) ever tell you that lying is bad???

i took ap psych and us history through northwestern university’s summer program…so i have no idea how those’re lies haha. yes, puerto rican, fifth generation, and my father’s a british jew so that’s a relatively unique mix.

I’m kind of confused with your grading scale being out of 5.0? Most schools, that I know of, are out of 4.0. Well, if they see a 4.8 on your resume, you’re gonna get in. Also your ACT/SAT is amazing, along with the rest of your stats.

I think you’ll get into all of them; but Northwestern is very difficult to get into, so who knows, you’ll probably still get in with those stats.

Chance me please:

IN AT ALL!!! CONGRATS!

chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/912361-chance-me-ivies-other-schools-new-member-here.html</a></p>

Match for all. Your high test scores and great grade trends (your grades have continually rose) compensate for your relatively low gpa. Good work.

yeah…but what grade are you in?
