Alright, so what kind of competition r we facing?

The competition is overstated. Make decent grades, earn decent scores, join some clubs, spell-check your essays, and you should be in to at least Cornell or Brown.

maybe people on CC lie about their SATs and ECs?

God how I hope thats true…

Lol I feel like I’m not that bad of a person now that someone else thinks that too. I think I love you Cacciato >_> for saying that

There’s something seriously wrong with the admissions if 1 out of every 10 kids they admit don’t deserve it.

I doubt that there’s more than 2 or 3 a year for any top school.

You have to understand that universities such as Harvard are open to international students. They don’t only select those from the U.S.A.

Stuends from outside of north america typically focus more on pure academics, and much less on ECs, which is why they will be relatively less competitive in terms of admissions even though they may be stronger academically

“I doubt that there’s more than 2 or 3 a year for any top school.”

Hahah I don’t think you know much about the select group of people that gets their foot in the door of elite colleges. These people being alumni children, celebrities etc. etc. This happens mostly at Harvard and Brown.

The next best thing that happens in college admissions is “courtesy waitlist” where an alumni that has been donating so mcuh money has a child that is vying for a spot at a top college but he/she doesn’t have the grades, test scores, EC etc. Instead of the college being outright rude to the alum by rejecting the applicant, they’d rather soften the blow by waitlisting. Needless to say, the alum’s child will never get off the wiatlist.

^Plus you can’t forget how big the Ivy Leauge is on sports. You might be surprised but princton has a roster of like 120 football players…Your telling me those 120 football players have amazing grades, sat scores, and EC’s? LOL. A guy I know is going to be a freshman there, full ride scholarship, not even an AMAZING player, he just had what the coaches were looking for…no ap classes and ACT of like 25.
