Alumni Interview Dilemma

So I was scheduled for an interview for today. My interviewer called me on Monday, arranging the interview for me, but neglected to leave a name or a phone number. I didn't get a chance to ask for his contact information either, but I didn't give much thought to it because I figured he would e-mail me anyway. Well, he still has not e-mailed me, and it's been 2 hours after my scheduled interview. Of course, I couldn't show up, and I expected him to call me asking me why I did not show up, perhaps, but he did not do that either. I contacted the university earlier today (long before the interview), and after transferring me to several different offices, I was told that there was nothing that could be done.

Of course, the blame is partly my own because I neglected to ask for his contact information. However, I don't exactly know what to do at this point, so I am asking for some advice. I am sure that my interview is very busy, but I am certainly in a little bit of a pickle. I hope this will not have a negative effect on my application, but I was wondering if any of you guys experienced similar difficulties?

haha you are f-ed. Hopefully you aren't applying to wharton. Good luck dude.

Um, thank you for the helpful advice? My guidance counselor was there when I called, and she said that the interviews are at the bottom of the list of what they consider, and that the interviewer should call me back soon, or else my counselor will talk to the admissions office for me.

haha yea im sorry that wasn't advice at all.. heres advice.. e-mail your regional director and tell him the situation..

i dont know about bottom of the list, if your a borderline student an interview could definitely push you up

but anyway, it should be fine lol just try rescheduling an interview... maybe with a different interviewer this time? call the school and see if there are any other interviewers around your area

Thank you guys. I think I'm going to wait for my interviewer to possibly call me back this weekend, and if he doesn't, I will call the school and ask them to match up another interviewer for me. I think that's the best way to go.

One question is what was so important that suddenly came up that you felt it necessary not to show up for a college admissions interview that cannot be rescheduled?

Oh, I guess I did not make myself clear. He said he would e-mail me with his address and further contact information, and he did not do that. That was the reason I could not make it to my interview because I had no idea who he was or where his house was.

I think your friends are very good pranksters.

Haha, as much as I would like that to be true, it isn't. I think I just won't worry about it for now. I am sure I can explain it to the admissions office if they ask me about it, and I think I will be able to schedule another interview soon.

I am an alumni interviewer for Penn. I can assure you that once your interviewer contacts you again and you explain what happened, there will be no problem at all. If you don't hear from them, it may be worthwhile to track them down, and this would show some tenacity on your part. I would call Penn admissions again and ask who the Secondary Schools Committee chairman is in your area and contact them.

Okay, thank you! I called admissions a few times, and on the website I found out the name and address but not the phone-number of the SSC chairman, so I wasn't really sure what to do. The last time I called, they said that they had contacted to the local chairman and there was nothing they could do, but I think I will try again if my interviewer does not contact me soon. Thank you!
