Will it be better to have an interview with an alumni in my area? Are there any advantages? Is the interview about me getting information from them, or the other way round?

Hi, I would also like to ask how do we schedule an interview? Do we just tick the box on the supp? Is there a specific time we need to submit the supp by if we want an interview? Also, are international applicants able to have interviews as well?

I would definitely do an alumni interview. It shows cmu that you’re actually interested. I’m a current freshman and I remember talking to a rep who came to my school. He really emphasized showing interest. There were no reps around my area but I did a phone interview.

Advantage: the more interest you show (sleeping bag weekend, interviews, phone interviews, college visits, info sessions etc) the higher chances you’ll have getting in. Not only that, but you’ll get a better idea of whether or not CMU is right for you. It’s a small school filled with workaholics. Putting a face onto an application is really important, and an interview will let someone paint another picture of you to add to the application

The interview is rather casual. I’d say it’s more about you getting information from them, but they do go through the list of questions for you to answer. They write things down and fill out a form about you to send to cmu.

Good luck with everything! Hope you get in! :DD
