Hello all! I was just wondering if an alumni (rather, alumna) recommendation will do anything regarding my admission to Dartmouth. I mean, of course it can't hurt, but can it really help very much? Or is it just more of a character recommendation? Thanks! :p

I had one from a very successful Dartmouth grad who's known me since I was born....rejected ED.

Make of it what you will.

depends. do they give a lot of money to dart? Are they still really involved in the school? if not, as most alummni aren't, it really isn't going to be significant

Well up until last year she was an alumni interviewer (she has also been active in local Dartmouth alumni organizations and events)... and her family (I don't know about her specifically) gives money to Dartmouth.

I'm sure it can't hurt... I'll do most anything I can to get accepted (as superficial as that sounds! ;) Really, I just want to get in... as all of you do, too, of course).

It is not like you are the child of this alum so it will make little difference in the admissions process
