I have a couple questions regarding how Yale considers those who are related to yale alumni. Firstly, my birth father went to yale, but I have been since adopted, and he is passed away. Secondly, he went to graduate school at yale. Does that count? Any help is appreciated.

It sure does count. Put down his name for both the college and the graduate school.

wow, yeah, that will help you a lot in the admissions factor, i think!
definately put that down...you are lucky!!!

Legacy status does not help a lot. It helps a very little.

I know this is a little late, but, it's good advice. From an adcom at a Yale visit:

"Legacy status may help heal the sick. However, it will not raise the dead."
