Alumni: where are they now?

My 16 year old S is trying to decide where to apply for MT/drama. From a parent's point of view, a very important measure of a school is whether the graduates are able to find work in their chosen field. I'd love to hear what kind of work recent MT graduates have been doing, the school they graduated from, and how well they think their school helped/prepared them to get jobs. Does proximity to a large city make a difference?

Thanks, all!

Go to playbill.com, click on the Broadway or Off-Broadway section, then go to whatever show you want and read the "Who's Who". Most of the bios include the school where the person graduated from, especially if they are just out of school or in their early to late 30s.

The popular ones, that still list their school even though they have a substantial amount of credits, are: University of Michigan, CMU, CCM and NYU-Tisch. Obviously these are not the ONLY good schools, but they definitely have many successful graduates in the field.

Thanks. I did search quite a few at broadway.com to see their schools, but I'm hoping someone will come up with some more specific feedback about just how their schools helped them.

btw, I'm also from berks county... grew up there, went to penn state, then moved away. :-( I love to visit and still have a little bit of family there.

Most of the individual colleges have a posting of "where are alumni now." Many of the theatre departments have a similiar web page. This is very interesting to look at (and especially the work in comparision to the year of graduation).

Elon usually lists where alumni are in their quarterly performing arts newsletter. These are available for viewing online.
