Does it help in the admission process if both parents were students at the university of maryland college park?

I don’t believe it really helps, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. I have heard some people say it does help, just a little.

When my eldest was applying, I asked that question point blank. I was told, by an admissions officer, unequivocally, that it made no difference whatsoever in the admissions process. He explained that the only way it “helped” was to make those students, after admitted, then eligible for some additional scholarships that are specifically designated for “legacy” students…when I looked into it, it really was only a few scholarships, nothing earth-shattering.
