How's it? :-|

Well I just read that Dartmouth is now need-blind for internationals when it comes to admission so I think you have a decent shot. Now whether or not you'll get the financial aid to allow you to go is another story, but you might as well try!

Thanks, I hope I'll be able to go if I'm admitted. :)

Any more? Any helpful info?

Bump.......

more please.

You have a very very similar profile to a well known poster here on the Dartmouth threads. Let's just say he didn't get in (ED).

was it ajayc?

More please :( Any advice?

CWalker-if the OP gets in, he can go. Dartmouth meets 100% of accepted students' financial needs, even internationals.

OP-you definitely have a shot. However, competition is fierce because over a thousand applicants applied to Dartmouth from India last year, and it only accepted less than 0.5% of those applicants. The number of applicants is likely to increase this year because Dartmouth extended need-blind financial aid policy to international applicants. I think your chances are better than the average last year.

Okay :) ...

Any more?..........

Yes ,you ve got a quite good chanse. If you were from lets say ... Bulgaria, you would be admitted for sure.Dartmough is looking for the so-called ''cultural diversity'' and the only problem for you is that you are competing with a lot of other candidats from India and Asia as well. For example ,3 Bulgarian students were admitted to Harvard last year,3 out of 8 and 5 were admitted to Dartmouth,5 out of 11.Don`t you think this is far better than 0,5 % of 1000 ?Contact me on skype for more information.

Thanks, and nice description of Bulgaria in your 'location' tab lol

accepted less than 0.5%

That would make it even more selective than MIT (for Indian internationals). I don't think that figure is quite right.

"CWalker-if the OP gets in, he can go. Dartmouth meets 100% of accepted students' financial needs, even internationals."

It says that but Dartmouth also has a crappy formula which also counts property value and whatnot as part of your income, so you end up with a "larger than actual" income that they count. Originally, Dartmouth gave me the least aid of all the schools I was accepted to.

So yeah. Don't let me stop you from ED-ing, but if you're actually interested in aid (I'm not quite sure how everything will be counted internationally), I suggest applying to other schools and comparing and negotiating the aid package later.

COuld you please answer this : If i can pay about 40-50 % of the money required by a particular college, and do not need a full scholarhip do i have a better chanse ,because as far as i am concerned,75-80% of the international students need a full financiall aid, especially students from Asia.

For a need-blind school, does it make a difference?

It doesnt make a difference for need blind schools (there are 8 for internationals), but for the rest yep it could help you.

Ah it was meant to be rhetorical question (I know, hardly obvious), but spidey did no harm by answering it the way it deserved to be dealt with :).

Lol, i know tetrisfan. I answered it properly 'cos he probably is having a tough time with English.
