Hey so I'm a junior and during the break I am researching information about colleges. I know that UPenn has a binding ED option but can I still apply to other school's EA (like chicago and MIT) and still apply to ED UPenn?

I recently went to a UPenn informational seminar and the guy said that we could do EA and ED. However I am confused because since ED is binding, if I were to get accepted, how would I reject it if I got into an EA school? This part was why I was confused by what the UPenn guy said so I was wondering if anybody can clear up my confusion.

Yes, you may apply ED and EA, as long as it’s not single choice EA like Yale’s. You are bound to reject your EA school if you get in ED, however.

Yes, you can apply ED and EA if it is not a single-choice early action school (Yale, Stanford, Georgetown). If accepted ED, you must agree to matriculate at Penn regardless of whether you were accepted to your other EA schools. Just know that before you apply.

<edit> sorry, didn’t see Code Monkey’s response</edit>

I applied to Penn ED and Chicago EA. I got into Penn, so I withdrew my Chicago application before the decision came out since I didn’t want to take someone’s spot.
