I'm doing it because it would be cheaper to take the class I want in cc than to pay the extra amount for exceeding the semester credit cap at my home college. Can I do this?

shadow, it all depends on the college you are attending. You have to get their permission in writing that the credits will transfer. If you have not yet completed your sophomore year, there’s a chance they may accept the credits from a cc.

My ‘home’ college (top private) allowed me to take summer courses at my local cc and transferred the credits. Another summer I took classes at the Univ of Hawaii, which they accepted when I was a junior. (Saved loads of money even as an out of state student, plus very nice ‘vacation.’)

Now, my situation was very different in that I didn’t take courses at another school at the same time. But often pulling the money card can work, and if you think the class at the cc would be acceptable to them, just ask.
