Am I an International Student?

I hold dual citizenship to the US and Canada, but I live in Canada. Am I still an international student?

Thanks in advance :)

For US colleges, you’re (luckily) considered a domestic student. It’s your citizenship status, not your address.

Are you serious? Wow this helps so much THANKS :D!

You are a US citizen who is living and studying outside the US. This makes you a US applicant for financial aid purposes.

But do send an email to each college/university on your list, and ask them how they want you to submit you school records. Some will want a person familiar with Canada to read that part of your file.

The same applies to dual citizens living in the US. They can pay the low Canadian tuition rates in Canada. Unless you are aiming for a top US school, the bottom line cost will likely still be a lot more than a Canadian school.

Ok now I’m confused…I’m an international student when it comes to financial aid, but not necessarily when considered for admission?

No, your not an international for applying it fin aid. You are domestic for applying to both Canadian and US schools. US schools are just a lot more expensive than Canadian schools most of the time.
