Borderline… You need to get 700+ on all three SAT sections to be truly “competitive.”
I would classify it as a reach for you at this point, ED would help a lot.

@brandeisMA2014-- Actually, your stats are more than half as good, and, if I’m remembering correctly, you were accepted off the waitlist, and you have something else going for you that Eaglesforlife may not: you come from a family that makes less than $30,000 a year, which is compelling for the admissions committee and makes the rest of your (somewhat lower) stats less damaging. (Research shows that students from families with lower incomes get lower test scores across the board due to fewer opportunities, etc. so admissions committees take lower incomes into account when considering test scores.)

I think you are definitely competitive. The fact that you will have taken 11 AP classes by the end of your Senior year is very impressive. The rigor of your classes is a pretty big factor. Also, it depends slightly on what you received on your AP exams, you don’t need to send them in, but if you did well on them then sending it in shows that your high grades were because you deserved them and not because it was an easy class.

Your E.C’s seem to be poignant and impressive.

As always, ED will definitely help. And considering the fact that I think you are the first person to post your stats for the upcoming year, it seems that you may really want Brandeis.

If your essay and “Why Brandeis” shows you as a real, well rounded thinking student, I think you have a very good shot.

Your GPA and extracurriculars are great…biotechnology in India? In high school?
I don’t think you have to worry about your SAT score…you scored really well on your SAT II’s. I wouldn’t consider the school a “reach” either…but then again, I didn’t get in yet either.

I know someone who got in with lesser scores and grades, albeit a hard high school program. He has a few EC’s but more in quality rather than quantity.

I got into Brandeis with a 2040…680 on reading, 760 on writing, and 610 on math. So I wouldn’t go with the 700+ advice. You’re very competitive. Just write a stellar essay.
