Am I competitive for Duke?

I was wondering if people thought I was competitive to get into Duke. I think it is my number one pick!

I'm a white male. Both of my parents attended college. I would be "double legacy" at Duke (both my mother and grandfather went). I am strongly considering applying ED because I have heard that qualified legacies have very good chances of getting in ED.

ACT Composite: 32
(I've taken it a couple times.. I have some very high subscores:
English: 35
Math:33
Reading: 32
Science: 36
Essay: 10)
I'm taking the ACT again in September. I've been taking some practice tests and have been improving.

Extracurriculars:
*Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts)
*Founded the Student Human Relations Commission (SHRC) at my high school
*Student Ambassador for NCCJ (National Conference for Community and Justice)
*Founded Pulsewyre Custom Computers, LLC (local computer and computer repair company; it is registered through the State of North Carolina)
*Varsity baseball player (2 years on JV, 2 years on Varsity)
*Member of National Honor Society
*Member of Key Club

I go to a VERY competitive public high school. It has an IB program and offers tons of both IB and AP classes. Here is my transcript. I'm sorry it's so long :P :

Thanks!

I don’t know a lot about Duke, but I think you have a great shot, especially ED, based on your focused ECs, solid scores, and legacy status.

Just curious, why didn’t you choose to to the IB diploma?

Taking the “IB Track” really locks you out of a lot of classes (at least at my school). I couldn’t have taken marketing my freshman year, AP World History my sophomore year (my school makes IB kids take Euro History), or AP Bio next year. I really like the flexibility of the AP program and I feel that the IB diploma (with the extended essay and CAS hours) wasn’t for me. I wouldn’t have had the time. Instead, I chose to focus on my extracurriculars and what I like to do.

I think you are in.

I am very impressed by the Eagle Scout accomplishment

I would like to see your ACT get up to a 33.

Just so you know, my son raised his ACT score from a 31 to a 34, with ZERO studying.

Thanks for the encouragement! I also forgot to mention that Duke pulls 12% from North Carolina, so that is another thing I have on my side.

Just did a tour of Duke and they emphasized that applying ED can significantly increase your chances of admission. Definitely have a good shot. Good Luck!

When I went on a tour, they said the exact same thing. Must be true!
