I was born in south korea, but moved to america at age 1. my parents are both korean citizens, my brother is an american citizen. when i apply for prep schools, am i considered international?

If you were raised in the U.S. and reside in the U.S. and your parents pay taxes in the U.S. (esp. important if you are seeking financial aid, as you will be required to provide U.S. tax forms), then I believe you will be considered a U.S. applicant. You mention everyone else in your family but do not say whether or not you are a U.S. citizen.

If you are unsure, a call to the admissions office of each school to which you plan to apply is probably a good idea.

You should ask the schools this question because it is very specific and a very important question. My guess is that depends on your parents legal status in the US. Are they here indefinately or did they need new visa every few years? But really, I don’t know and you should ask the various schools. Probably if two or three schools tell you the same thing, you won’t need to ask any more.

Some school categorize int’l students according to their citizenship, others by country of residency.

You must contact each school iINDIVIDUALLY to confirm this.
