I realized I made a mistake on my interim Rice application. Well, two actually.

First: I accidentally omitted two things that could have gone in the honors section: AP Scholars and Mississippi Math and Science Tournament awards. I think the AP Scholars one is not significant to omit, but I am disappointed that I made mistakes, when I was spent so much time on the application and checked over it so much! I would love to go to Rice! Do you think I am allowed to make additions? How?

But the mistakes don't end there. You know section where you list your activites? I don't know how I might have done this, but I think that for two of the activities, I did not indicate the grade levels of participation. This is what is shown on my copy of the application, and unless it is something I fixed during my final scan of the application (I can't remember, besides my memory makes me believe funny things)....then those boxes are left blank! Is this something small or something big? I shouldn't call and say anything about it, should I? Would that draw attention? Or is it already something that they will definitely notice and frown upon??? I didn't work this hard to not get accepted!!!!

it won't make or break your application

if it gets you piece of mind, call admissions

Hey, did you apply to Rice interim? I applied Rice ED, and don't worry about something like that. If you want them to know about an award, just give them an email asking them where to specifically send the info about the award and they'll let you know. (I did that too with an additional award I got like a month later!)
I also misspelled Wiess. AHH! But students told me they once did that too, surprisingly.

OH, one thing... calling the office will help get you a direct answer, and it usually shows you're more concerned. So do that if you're worried about the misprint/miscopy or whatever on your application. They don't frown upon students who care about their application.

thanks...I think I will call. The worst that could happen is they will see that I am concerned--and that is a good thing.

concerned or anal-retentive.... None of this is major. Nobody there is going to go in and mark up an app based on a phone call. If you want to write it down and send it, then you might append the MS Math and Science Award.

Yeah, I know none of it is major. And it doesn't sound right that someone would actually go find my app and fix it. But I am wondering: are adcoms the kind of people who get mad at careless mistakes (the checkboxes) and immediately throw the app in the reject pile? Or does it at least detract from the application in a significant way?

". But I am wondering: are adcoms the kind of people who get mad at careless mistakes (the checkboxes) and immediately throw the app in the reject pile? "

Of course not. If they were like that, they'd miss out on a lot of good students. The adcoms at places like Rice aren't looking for excellent word processors, but excellent students who'll add to their campus' EC and academic environments.

my boyfriend accidently sent in an essay to the eastman school of music with a ton of mistakes but they let him resend it and they took it no problem dont worry its just nerves!

Thanks...I feel a little more relieved. If they see the rest of me they won't worry too much about a couple of checkboxes that were left blank. I guess I won't call. But what about the awards? I should at least call about those?

Nobody in that position is going to write on your app based upon somebody telling them to over the phone. The app came in the mail and they aren't going to modify it based on a phone call anymore than they would forge your name on a form because you told them over the phone that it was okay. If you want to add the awards, then do it in a letter.

no but you are definetely retarded....lol

i;m joking, you should be fine

I'm just going to see if they let me add the awards...I sent an email.
