International students can get a “work study award”, but not the kind sponsored by the government. It’s still “work study” because it’s managed by the college. It’s important they do get it in written form in their FA package (or ask for it to be added to their package) since otherwise it’s nearly impossible for them to get an on-campus job - the only kind they can get. Weekly hours are restricted to 20, which is already a lot more than is available/reasonable.
Second: Mount Holyoke ED2 is a good pick - they do offer LOTS of financial aid to internationals. ED1 to Amherst is a good idea since they’re NOT need aware.
Overall, though, we’d need to know whether you’re competitive for these… there’s more to it than top scores and grades, you also need to bring something to campus. What do you do outside of class? Do you have any national recognition in any field?
What country are you from? Systems using 20 as a reference point include France and French-patterned, Iran, Argentina… and the meaning of 18 is different in each country.
