Great essays, great recs!

You’ve already probably 30 threads about chances, what makes you think you’ll get your answer this time?

Hahahahahahahaha

I stopped reading after female for CoE. You’re in.

hahaha acta i love you

Moderate ■■■■■■■■ aside, I think you should be fine for next year if you get your ACT up even a point or two, or your UW GPA up a little.

I got in this year with a 31 ACT, 3.95ish UW GPA, and you have better EC’s than I did. I’m a white male, instate for CoE.

Competition to get in this year was the highest it has ever been due to the switch to the Common App, so I’d imagine next year’s competition/admissions will be even more cut-throat.

Overall, though, I think that you SHOULD get in. :)

Ya I’m definitely gonna get it up to a 34. I’ve been studying for AP Lang so my reading skills (what had been bringing me down) have improved a lot. Also I’m gonna take the Math II & Physics SAT subject tests and try to do really well on them.

GPA can’t really go up much at this point :frowning: but really my sophomore grades forward are good (only like 3 B+s, the rest As)

And I heard they overadmitted last year so they had to compensate this year by letting less people in, so maybe it won’t be AS bad next year? At least I hope not haha.

you will get in even with a 31. i had a friend get in this year to coe with a 29, but he did have a 4.0 uw. u should be fine though

It’s not for sure unless you get the ACT in the 34+ range. Admissions is only gonna get harder next year and a lot of people with your stats and better didn’t get in this year. In state and female CoE helps though.

If you don’t get in, it will not be because of the ACT score. I seriously doubt an improvement in the ACT score will make you a more compelling candidate.

What’s a mini-legacy? You either are one or you aren’t.

Unfortunately for you, that’s not true. The main reason admissions got much harder this year is because they moved to the commonapp. This drove applications way up and affected the admissions rate much more than the slight decrease in acceptances. Next year they are still going to take the same amount of kids as they did this year (so less than last year), but applications will probably see their biggest increase because of the commonapp, even more than this years. The admissions rate this year was probably in the high 30’s; next year I bet it goes to the mid to low 30’s.

Well you really should look at the acceptance rate for your group, OOS IS or Int.

They were trying to decrease the size if the student body this year because they admitted too many in my class though.

Mini-legacy = my grandma, sister, and brother went.

And the fact they had overadmitted combined with the CommonApp, to my understanding, is why they were so frugal this year.

And the admittance rate for IS is higher.

And res ipsa, I beg to differ.

Well they did overadmit last year, but it’s not like now they are gonna increase the number of spots for next year. Mary Sue-Coleman has been on record saying she wants to decrease the size of the University, so I doubt they take more next year. As for the commonapp, other colleges that have switched have seen their biggest increase in apps on the second year after switching, and there’s no reason that won’t happen with Michigan. For the record I think you’ll get in, but it’s definitely not for sure and admissions will keep getting harder.

You are a female that wants to go into engineering with average-above average grades for Umich, I think you’re good.

An unweighted 3.7 is above average?

^ A 3.7 Unweighted FROM THE THIRD BEST HS IN MICHIGAN would be a different and more likely admit than the “typical” 3.7 from a “typical” comprehensive HS – particularly if the OP’s unweighted/weighted puts her in the top 10%, which my bet is that it would.

But context aside, I wouldn’t normally call 3.7 unweighted “above” average – more like average.

did I say average? no

I said average-above average

so I covered both cases

I win

^ Hahaha. 3.9 without freshman year (which Michigan USED TO not count)!
