Am I going to Die Next Year? (Senior Classload)

AP Statistics
AP English 12 Lit
AP Environmental Science
AP French V Lang
AP Comparitive Govt and Politics
Tech Magnet Senior Practicum (Takes up two periods - involves an internship)

In addition to all of this, I'll be interning with a law firm outside of school

...am I going to die? Is a classload like this even possible (while still maintaing some semblance of a social life)?

why are you asking us this? It's your work ethic, your life, your determination, your motivation, your will, not ours. If you're asking whether or not someone else has taken a similar or even harder courseload, yes people have (including me this year), but I could be very different from you and everyone else. So not to come off mean, but basically it's your choice and you should really know whether or not you can handle the courseload.

PS: If you wanted someone to say "omg that's a crazy courseload, you must be really smart and plus you're doing a law firm thing" for a confidence boost..you must remember you are at a college forum that represents less than 3% of the american high school student population. And most students are above average in test scores and take heavy courseloads. It seems as if many of the juniors are randomly writing there "crazy courseloads" on this forumn for next year for absolutely no reason, it's your decision guys (juniors), and it's your senior year. Don't post your schedule for laudment..

again..this wasn't meant to be a personal attack or anything, just something I have observed and moreover the clearest answer anyone can give you.

Yes a social life is possible

I'm taking:

IB Math HL
IB English HL
IB Physics HL
IB History HL
IB Spanish SL
IB Art SL
IB Theory of Knowledge
AP Economics
AP Govt (Constitution Team)

Of course it depends on the person and the teacher. I'm lucky that I do not have to actually study for most of my classes and I still get a B+ average. The only class I REALLY need to try in is English.... currently at a C+, but my other B+ and A's make up for it.

I also have a few EC's this year so yea it is possible.

are you allowed to take 4 hl seph? cuz im taking 3, definitely wouldnt have minded another one

Yes you are allowed to take 4 HL.

Hey who knows what will happen? I took an easier courseload of

AP English Literature and Composition
AP Calculus AB
AP Computer Science
AP Spanish Language
Economics
Physics 130 (CSUDH)
Honors Anatomy and Physiology
Intermediate Theater Arts

I did fine. I got two B's so it's not too bad. What determines your ability to handle it is how well you can manage your time. If you are unsure you can always start dropping stuff.

no. you won't die? that's normal. 5 AP's=normal. not a big deal: ) work hard!

i took/m taking 5 AP's, 1 Honors, 1 Core, 3 Electives and got 1 B. so it's not horrible. well this semester, ahem, i'm getting several B's but whatever.

I hate how people are always accused of showing off here. I'm sure he's genuinely worried, guys. This website can be intimidating.

I believe in the stretching of one's potential. He sounds smart so he should be able to handle it. And he is supposed to handle the most rigorous curriculum, because that's what colleges want. What do colleges want?

Why are you asking other people? You should know yourself whether your courseload is manageable or too much.

I'm taking the hardest classes I can.
AP English
AP Physics
AP Spanish
Precalc H
Gov H/Econ H
Religion
Graphic Design
Eastern Philosophy

First quater is going to be the worst 2.5 months of my life. Newspaper editor, cross country everyday afterschool, other clubs and a part time job. AND APPLYING TO COLLEGE. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH.

You're going to love AP Lit! And no, you won't die...just work on stuff as it happens (ie don't be like all the other seniors and start all your papers at 3 AM the nightbefore/day they're due)

AP Environmental, AP Government, and AP Lit were all pretty easy.

agreed with pike...by the way I am not accusing anyone, I made that clear.

ha, Im taking two classes for the second semester, beat that!

honestly , ap course or no ap course ... your grade really depends on the rigor of your school. Kash, if you go to one of those super stressful elite highschools where even the "normal" classes are challenging (like aps) you may just be asking for trouble. My school does not recommend anyone to take over three APs a year and it offers almost all of them.
The bottom line is if you can handle it , do it. If you don't handle stress well, don't do it.

I agree with Fluffy, it definitely depends on your school.

Meh.

Sadly, this is how my workload comes out

English HL = Math HL + physics HL + History HL + Spanish SL

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sephiroth,

my friends strongly agree with you lol
English HL is the killer
