Am I in trouble?

Ok, guys, I have a problem. I've always been an A student, ok? Well, when I started high scholl, I went to a school that required physical science, so I didn't take biology that year. the next year, i change schools and take chemistry as usual and am now taking biology at yet another school now as a junior. Also, because of a weird circumstance at my sophomore school, i had to not take a math class at all (i was advanced as it was, but still...). So, here I am, taking a freshman science course my junior year, not taking a math course my soph. year, and to top it all off, my guidance counselor (rewind: my first two schools were small private schools, so there were no guidance counselors or honors classes) didn't let me into any honors classes (except spanish). I am terribly worried this won't look good at all when i apply to colleges. On the bright side, I have several teachers who believe i am extremely capable (who all think i should be in honors courses) so i have references for colleges, and i have a 4.0 gpa. My SAT scores have been predicted high by many people also.

So, My question is, am I in trouble or can i get into a nice school?

Explain your situation in the additional/explanatory information box (all applications have this section). It doesn't usually apply to most people, but in your case, because your curriculum was out of your hands (at least I assume it was), you definitely need to use it.

If it was your choice to slack a little, then colleges won't like seeing that. Colleges will pick the guy that suffered a few B's because he/she took harder classes over the guy who glided by with straight A's.

Thank-you so much! that's relieved me a little. I wasn't aware there was such a thing. I'm serious though, it has been completely out of my hands. There was nothing i could do to change it. All my teachers know I'm a hard worker and would never slack off... I'm really going to need some good recommendations.

By the way, if I do take all honors/AP classes next year and continue to have A's (well, first semester), will that help?

yes that will.. cause u can up the courselevel and still ace it.. thats a cool sign

But it won't make it look like i slacked my sophomore and junior years, will it?

no since u will explain the situation.....and since there is an upward trend

Thanks, everyone. One more question (you all are probably sick of me, sorry). Since I am slacking in math and science, i will be taking 2 honors math courses and 2 honors scince courses next year. Would that be impressive?

I lied. I have another question. I plan on majoring in foreign language in college (spanish and french to become a translator), so will these help (i do realize my major has no effect on my adimission though):

1) I've received over 100% every year of Spanish
2) I'm spending my summer in Spain and will most likely return fluent/near fluent
3) I'm teaching myself French.

Could those, regardless of what my future major may be, be beneficial in any way to college acceptance?

Sorry for bugging you, but you guys have been sooo helpful. Thanks a lot!

depends.. if you are an engineering major.. languages are as important to colleges as the UN is to the US foreign policy

Well, I really want to become a translator (French/Spanish to English). Are there any good colleges I can get into that would help me? And what would be good majors/minors for this career (besides Spanish/French). Thanks.

A good minor would be education.

Middlebury is known for having a good language program. Have your GC also explain in her report to colleges why your courseload is not as strong as may have been expected given what the school offers.

Thanks, guys. Any more encouragement? You have no idea how upset I am. I'm really starting to worry I won't get into a good college.

Quick question. If my SAT scores are a good 200-300 higher than roughly 80% of the students at a college and I have excellent recommendations and essay, what are my chances?

Sorry, one more thing. I just looked at Middlebury's stats. They're graduate school is nothing but foreign language, which is great, but it's a very tougfh school to get into. I don't think I have what it takes. It really seems good for me though. I'm soo sad...

u need to chill out.. whether you get accepted/rejected based on your courseload of past is something out of your control... so chill out and work with the present and see whhat u ca do now

Thanks, Antarius, I needed that. But really, do I have any chance of Middlebury? If not, does anyone else know of a good foreign language school?

Look at Dickinson College in PA. Great language programs, easier to get into than Middlebury, Georgetown, etc.

Does anyone else have advice? I'm still really worried,
