I took, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calc. But when i took the SAT Math portion of the exam, the first four questions were simple, but afterwards i have no freaking clue what they are saying or implying in the questions.

So is it that i don't know the math, or i haven't learned to recognize what the question is saying?

Well if you only knew the first 4 questions in each section, then you obviously have a math problem. It may be partly that you aren’t familiar with the test but if you only got 4 in each section then you have a serious problem.

With those math courses (you only need till Algebra II), you should be more than capable of doing the math, so I would say that you would need to work on recognizing the problem. The SAT Math isn’t difficult, but it is tricky.

If you didn’t do so well and plan to re-take it, consider looking at more word problems. Another thing is that just plugging in answers into a calculator and estimation for diagrams that don’t say not-to-scale can help you when you’re not sure how to solve the problem.

It also depends on how well you did on those actual courses… Pre-calculus is enough to take SAT II Math 2.

Op- disregard the last two comments. It isprobably toyour credit that you have not spent every waking hour sincethe 4th grade preparing for the SAT.That being said, it’s time to take the books out and preparein a targeted manner. With study, your scores will go up and you will have plenty of schools from which to choose. Good luck!

Practice more? You just might not be comfortable with the format of the questions and it might take some getting used to. I think if you’ve taken up to Pre-Cal, you should have more than enough understanding of the math concepts covered, you’ll just have to get used to the application.
