So basically I tried to take a couple of online classes but I wasn't able to get the work done in time so I'll be getting an incomplete in them.
I'm not going to get high school credit for them or anything, and they weren't part of my regular schedule and all my graduation requirements and everything will be complete without them.
I'm not required to write down that I took/tried to take them, am I?

Yes, technically you are (for UCs anyway) but I don’t see how they’d find out unless you or someone else writes to the college and tells them about it. Since you aren’t getting credit and they’ll never show up on any of your transcripts, I’d leave it off your app.

If you don’t want credit for it in college then leave it off.

Technically you’re probably supposed to report all academic courses you attempted. Whether they can find out probably depends on where you took them. If it was thru any recognized college then odds are good they can find out, since almost all such colleges report their students to the National Student Clearinghouse and it is standard practice at colleges to check that database after enrollment to make sure their new students didn’t “forget” to report prior attendance or financial aid.

It was an online AP class, intended for high school students. College credit was not granted, only HS credit. (If I were to get college credit it would be because of the AP exam it prepared me for, not for the class itself. And the AP exams will just look like self-studies.)
Does that change anything?

just don’t include it. it’s not a big deal
