Am I on an ok track?

This year, my average is pretty ok, but it is not excellent. After Finals, it is probably going to be something like a 91.5 to a 92, which I think translates to a 3.65 to a 3.7. Weighted it would be about a 3.8-ish to a 3.9-ish I had a really bad freshman year, with around a 3.0-3.2, I think. Weighted, that would be something like a 3.5-3.7-ish. We aren't ranked, but the top 10% usually starts around a 91.5, or a 3.65 at my school by senior year. I will most likely be in the top 10% by the end of my junior year, and maybe somewhere close to the top 5% by the end of my senior year. Our school has around 240-250 students per grade.

My high school is a Private Jesuit High School, and it is considered one of the best in the state.

Freshman Year Classes:

Physics 1 Honors

English 9 Honors

Algebra 1 Honors

Spanish 1

Band 9

Band (After-school Jazz Band)

Religion 9 (Required)

Military Science 9

Global 9 Honors

This year I wasn't in as many honors courses as I used to be, as my Freshman year was a bit rough for me:

English 10 Honors

Religion 10 (Mandatory, no honors available)

Spanish 2

Biology Honors

Global 10 (Sadly I didn't make AP, even though I was in Global honors in Freshman year

Military Science 10

Geometry (Freshman year was when I abhorred math, but for some reason I "nerded" out near the end of the school year, and I am doing all that I can to get into the highest math classes I can, being I am a prospective Physics Major).

Band 10

Instrumental Music

Next year, though it is not completely set, these are the courses I was told I would be in:

Religion 11 (Again, Mandatory)

English 11 (I have no idea how I didn't get into AP English. I have just about the minimum average required for Non-Honors students to get in, I think I did well on the entrance exam, and I scored in the 99th and 96th for Writing and CR on the PSAT, respectively. About 1.2 of the kids that apply get in)

AP US History

Introduction to Calculus, or Pre-Calculus (Possibly Calculus, if I get around a 100 in Math Summer Enrichment and show great interest)

Physics 2 (No honors available. It is a pre-requisite for AP Physics

Military Science 11

Music Theory 1 and Composition

I am very much prepared to work extremely diligently to excel in all my classes.

My goals for senior year:

AP Comparative Government and Politics

AP English Literature

AP Physics (I heard they are changing the curriculum for my year, so I am not sure if it is Physics B or the new AP Physics 1/2)

AP Calculus AB or BC (AB if I take Pre-Calculus next year, BC if I possibly take Calculus)

Band 12 (The names have changed, and I don't know what they are calling the senior year course)

Chemistry (Possibly Honors or AP, my school is working on getting these)

Religion 12 With Foundations of Christian Thought in the 2nd semester (Philosophy)

I don't know if AP Statistics will fit into my schedule, but if it will, that would be great for me to take.

My goal for a cumulative GPA by the end of my junior year is around a 3.6-3.7. Weighted, the goal is probably a 4.1-4.2, which will be made difficult only having one AP course. My accelerated math course in not an honors, being there is no Pre-Calc Honors or Calculus Honors in my school, so that will be just a normal grade

The Prepping I did for my PSAT was just looking at the Math and English sections for an hour.

My score was a 186, but for junior year I am actually going to take it seriously and hope for a scholarship range score. The cutoff in my state for Semifinalists is usually between 215 and 219.

For the SAT, I don't know how much I can improve in about 2/3 of a year, but if I could score 2200+ or 2300+ that would be amazing.

Activities-

Engineering club-Year 1

Architecture Club- Years 1-4. Possible leadership position next year being
the president and vice-presidents are leaving

Philosophy Club- Years 2-4. Again, possible leadership Position

Varsity Blue Night Band- Years 1-4. I was the only Freshman in Varsity Band last year. I was the lead trumpet this sophomore year, and probably will be throughout junior and senior year.

Track and Cross Country-Year 1. I was average, and it wasn't fun all of the year

JROTC- Years 1-2. I am considering dropping it either in the beginning of junior year or at the end.

JROTC Academic Team- Year 2. Not a very big role at all.

New York State Science Honors Society- Years 2-4. Possible president maybe next year or the year after.

Chess And Checkers Club- Years 3-4

I will probably be in NHS for years 3 and 4

I am thinking of running for president next year, or being in someone's party for election.

Student Council- Years 3-4

Mathematics Competition Club- Years 3-4

I tried to establish our high school's first Physics Society this year, but they said it would overlap too much with the Science Honors Society. I am proposing it again, as the Science Honors Society didn't do much at all this year, and my goals for the Physics Society are very focused, with frequent meetings in mind.

I might propose a Computer Science Club with a friend.

Volunteer Hours:

Only 15 already, for we had 10 required this year. I am thinking of doing many more outside of school, hopefully gaining about 40 hours a year from a food pantry that meets once monthly. In Senior year, we are required to have about 80 hours, for which I am thinking of doing a different activity.

Other:
HAP (Higher Achievement Program) Tutor during the Summer at my school.

Summer Math Enrichment

Coursera courses (I am currently taking Single Variable Calculus given by
UPenn, because my school's curriculum runs a bit slow for my interests).
After I get enough mathematics under my belt, I am thinking of doing research projects in Physics and Astronomy.

I am currently teaching myself coding, and once I have mastered that I will be working with a community on a multiplayer 3D game. It is a newer version of the mildly popular game Marsxplr. My roles would be to work on extra features that can be turned on in the game related to extreme Physics.

What colleges do you think I can aim for? Do you think with extreme effort and continuous search for extracurricular activities related to my interest could give me a chance at getting into schools like MIT or UChicago?

Thank you very much for reading

Is anyone going to help me out? I know I should have capitalized all of the letters in the title…

Also, it won’t let me edit it anymore. 1/2 of the kids who apply to AP English get in, not 1.2.

Edit: C’mon, I know at least 40 of you have seen this already…

I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me some feedback

Please? My thread has been open for almost 2 hours and I have to go to bed soon. Surely with 80 views at least a few of you have something to say?

Bump…

Ok, at least I know the forum is very active right now. I would really appreciate it if you guys replied to my thread.

I would make this thread a bit easier to read, but the time for editing the thread has ran out.

I think its great that you are making plans for college. You should look at the profiles of accepted students to MIT and U chicago. You will see that you very much need that extreme effort that you talk about. Spend the summer doing SAT prep and working on your ECs - Don’t wait till the fall to put in extreme effort - other MIT prospects are making their summer count.
