Am I on the right track?

Currently I am at a community college finishing up my last semester before I transfer somewhere. I am a psych major and its pretty interesting compared to biology. as for my career, I may be interested in pursuing pharmacy or psychologist (clinical psychologist in particular).

I've been told that if one wants to go to pharmacy school, they must take their PCAT and take their prereqs such as general chem I II, bioI I, orgo, calculus I, physics, etc. Currently, I am taking calculus and chemistry for those requirements. Would being a psych major and taking these prereq classes (in case i want to do pharmacy) be a "waste" of time?

Oh and somewhere along the line, I really want to minor in sociology. But I dont know how minoring works. I feel like im "just taking classes" rather than taking what I know and not be screwed in the end. So if anyone can explain, that'd be great!

Oh and i dont get why when people say they're a "premed" major, isn't it more like a track? Or so I've been told.

I’m not that familiar with pharm, but if it’s like premed (which you’re right is not a major, just a set of prerequisite coursework), then major doesn’t matter. Seems like psych would be fine since that is another major interest of yours and may eventually be your career path.

At each school, there will be coursework you need to take to have ‘minor’ put on your transcript. I personally don’t see much value in minors, or even second majors most the time, as your coursework is apparent and the ‘title’ minor is almost irrelevant IMO. Also, you could be forced to take courses that don’t really appeal to you in lieu of others you’re interested in.
