Am I on the right track?

Hi everybody. I am currently a senior at DePaul University in Chicago majoring in Accountancy. My goal is work in public accounting for a couple of years and see how I like it. I am most likely going to sit for the CPA exam after I graduate. However, I am also interested in Consulting as well. My question is do consulting firms hire Accounting majors? My gpa at the moment is 3.1 which isn't great, but I plan to pull it up by the time I graduate from college. I have not done an internship yet, but I plan to apply for a couple during the fall and next year.

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I’ve always been told that accounting is great for consulting. Another popular goal is to work for a firm for a few years to get experience then apply for an MBA or some C-level management positions.

Accounting is good for consulting. But after working for 4-5 years, you should try to get into a top MBA program.
