Am I on track for Ivy/Stanford/etc..?

Just my opinion but:

a) if you’re good enough scores won’t be a huge issue.
b) scores are very important in getting a sense of where you can fit

If you make a good enough impression this summer, schools will keep you on their list to follow, and may ask you to keep them posted on your progress both as a players and as a student. (FYI my son is a LHP who attending Headfirst as a rising senior, and he didn’t throw any harder than you. He had multiple coaches (mostly DIII) contact him after the showcase.)

Do you have a pretty good GPA right now and are taking rigorous courses? Have you taken the PSAT so could give an estimate of future SATs? If so, that will help.

I have not taken the SATs, but right now I have good academic stats. My UW GPA is approximately 3.93 and I am taking the highest level classes offered to me. FOr whatever it’s worth, my high school does not rank but I am confident that I am in the top 5% of my class of 360 and my school is pretty much a top school feeder. I think 49% of seniors go on to top 80 colleges, and 15-20% attend ivies and schools of that caliber.

I can give a rough estimate on my SATs just given my strengths. I can see myself achieving 800/mid 700/mid 700 on the Math/CR/Writing sections of the SAT, respectively, and 2400 for Chem/Math2/Physics SAT2s (I already have the 800 in chem and math is by far my strongest subject).

Of course, none of my testing projections will help during this year’s showcase, but will my GPA alone keep things interesting?

If you are close to what you project your scores to be, I would say that you will get plenty of looks based on high scores and solid lefthanded velocity.

But just my opinion.

How the **** could you NOT get accepted?

(That’s good news, btw  .)

I second DMOC’s assessment, but in a more chilled tone! :)

Good luck!

its odd how your AP WH was a 4, yet you only got a 600 on the Sat II with the largest curve. I wouldnt say your on track, it seems like your school is too easy or they don’t go into enough depth. Do any kids from your school usually get into the types of schools you are looking into?

DMOC/Dreamer: If those are directed at me? Thank you kindly.

CollegeBound: I haven’t been to any other high school, but I actually feel like the school I attend is difficult. Our valedictorian this year is going to Oregon (but that’s because she’s Jordan Hasay, [jordan hasay - Google Search](<a href=“jordan hasay - Google Search”>jordan hasay - Google Search),) while salutatorian is headed to USC. The other two finalists are going to UCLA and Notre Dame. So some top schools, but a little below the level that I’m looking at. Onto the History, I’ll be honest its never been my favorite and I didn’t apply myself enough. I was expecting a 5 so I was a little disappointed with that. Not to nitpick, but a 690 is a little better than the 600 you put (possible typo). Interesting news about that being the most curved though. Regardless, it doesn’t matter that much because I took my Math II and Lit subjects. Thanks, I’ll message you because I’d like to hear more of what you think.

I reread my OP, and I sound like a pompous fool so with this update I’ll try to keep it easy.

I retook the ACT.

Overall 34
Wr 34
Math 34
Read 35
Sci 34

I got those May SAT scores.

CR 690
Math 730
Wr 800

(Interestingly enough in the opposite order of my 1st time).

This gives me a combined score of 2270 (740 CR, 730 M, 800 Wr).

Sat Subjects:

Math II 760
Lit 710

Now, considering I am looking into Engineering, it looks kinda poor to me that my Math is the lowest score on the Sat (feel free to give opinion on this). So I’m thinking of retaking it, along with Chem/Phys subjects later this year.

The best news for my admission chances may be the responses that I have gotten from some baseball coaches. I’m going to hold off on naming the schools for now, but some coaches have sway with admissions that could help my chances.

I have learned so much about this recruiting process this summer.

Schools I’m looking at in general are:

No Baseball:
Stanford
UCLA
Yale
Princeton

Baseball:
Harvey Mudd
Swarthmore
Amherst
RPI
MIT
Whitman
Caltech
Occidental
Rose Hulman
Tufts

Please comment on anything and everything, just from anonymously reading this board I have learned so much.

Last news: I just sent off the books from recycling drive to the Peace Corps in Armenia.

-Respectfully

Another note:

My school is a private school in California with 280 students.
With such small size, many options available for better courses and activities at bigger high ranking public schools are not available to me. I have taken highest-rigor schedule available to me but after some inspection it becomes clear that my school isn’t multi-dimensional as I first thought.

With your new scores, you are right on track. Why are Princeton and Yale on your list as non-baseball?

Fauve: Thanks, well through the process I have learned that D1 (even Ivy League) is slightly above me baseball wise. Although if I end up enrolling at one of those schools, I will most certainly try to walk on.

I dont see why you wouldnt get into a “lower” ivy like cornell or brown. Also, consider schools that are great but not ivies (Duke, Chicago, Northwestern, WashU)

West32: I’ve considered Cornell and Brown but didn’t feel as drawn as I have been to other schools. That doesn’t mean that I won’t seriously consider them as deadlines approach. I am looking for somewhere where I can earn a top engineering degree and play competitive baseball. At this point the latter part eliminates those big schools you had mentioned, and leaves me with high academic D3 schools such as MIT and Harvey Mudd (The sports at Caltech are little ridiculous, on my tour/information session the Techers made fun of all the losing that goes on, so I feel like without sacrificing academic rigor I’d rather go to MIT where they take it a little more seriously). In about 1 month all my baseball will be finished up and I’ll know more realistically where I have legitimate shots to play. With that said if baseball is thrown out, I believe Stanford is my number one choice.

Thanks, I will definitely be realistic and consider a broad range of schools (and by broad I don’t just mean all the Ivies, haha).

Just like everyone else has said, you are a top student in line for these schools, but we all know they are reaches for everyone.

I would say good luck and apply anyways!

Alex: Yessir, they are reaches for everyone. I’m just hoping maybe a little push in admissions from a baseball coach will help a little too.

I think ur list is good and ur stat is good.
and yes a baseball coach would certainly help

chance me plz

thx

You go to Mission?

That’s just ridiculous how Jordan managed sports and academics.

Wait: Thanks.

James: Yes, she is quite impressive. A fully supportive family, both financially and mentally, is a phenomenal help too. She’s an amazing person and the most humble of friends.

Just finished my final baseball showcase, MIT remains #1 for me.
