Am I OOS or In-State?

I've lived in Texas my entire life and plan on transferring for Spring 2010. I know that I'll be paying in-state tuition my first year, but my parents want to move to Florida after I'm accepted to UT.

Will we have to pay OOS tuition when they move? I might live with them during the summer and winter, or I'll rent a house in Texas. If I rent a house in Texas while my parents live in Florida will I pay OOS tuition? What kind of proof do you have to show that says you're renting a house in Texas?

I’m not sure what will happen if your parents move to Florida, and I won’t conjecture as I am not too knowledgeable in OOS/IS tuition. However, I do know that if you have substantiated proof that you own property in Texas, then you will be able to apply for in-state tuition.

While you should do your own research, I believe that if you start out as instate, and you do not move to florida, you will not have a problem remaining in state for tuition. You can visit them. You can show your dorm as your new residence. Also, I can not imagine the school checking the status of every in state student to see if their parents moved. They can’t check 37,000 students. Also, oyu will be 18, and are an adult. you do not have to live with your parents.

Call the residency office at UT and ask them.

Thanks, I will call UT because this is complicated.

Can anyone else on here help me or know the answers? Thanks.
