Ok say I started my freshman year at an out of state school, thus paying out of state tuition for the first year. If I transferred back to an in-state school, would I still have to pay out of state tuition, or would I be eligible for in-state tuition?

If you’re a dependent and your parents are still living in your original state, you retain residency status there even if you go OOS for college.

@entomom Whew, that’s a relief. Thanks for replying!

Note, if you work or get taxable scholarships while at an OOS college, you may need to file taxes in that state, but it would be as a Non-resident.
