When I visited the University of Pittsburgh, I was in awe of the overall campus and academic life. It is my current dream school. The problem is I dont know how close or far I am in getting accepted. My GPA is 3.17( out of 4) which in my opinion is pretty low compared to other students. My SAT score is 1730(2nd time) I wanted to take it again but I am on vacation on the day of the test out of country. Some of the positives are that have been taking challanging courses since freshmen year of highschool. My lowest level class was a Gifted-High-Potential Class. I mostly take Honors and AP courses. This Senior year I am taking AP English, Ap Calc AB, AP Physics C along with 2 project lead the way courses in Biotechnology and Aerospace Engineering. My clubs and activities consist of Red Cross Club and Engineering Club for a number of years. Realistically, after looking at all that, I still don't think I will get accepted to UPitt. What do you guys think? What are your opinions? If there was a campus like Pitt, what would you suggest? PS: I like the cheapness of the school as I live in PA, so please take that into consideration.

Really? No Reply? Guys it would really help me if you said anything

I took a look at some of the stats for the already accepted students for the class of 2019 and I don’t want to discourage you but your GPA is much lower than the average which is around a 3.5. I also delved into my school’s accepted students graphs and looked at the data there, I am from MA so it will be different and my high school is one of the top in the state. But the lowest accepted from my school was around a 2.5 and the average fell around a 4.0-4.5 but also keep in mind my school’s calculation of GPA is extremely weird. I do think that the classes you are taking is very good and helpful but the only worrisome thing I think is your GPA. Your test scores aren’t bad just a little off from the average from the class of 2019. If your school offers Naviance really check that out it’s a life saver sometimes. I think that U Pitt is a reach for you maybe a lower reach but since I’m not from the PA area I don’t know what the high schools are like there and stuff. I’ve heard from people from PA that Scranton is really nice and beautiful as well as your classic Penn State which is different from U Pitt but size wise it’s similar I believe. You could also check out the other U Pitt campuses and look at those! Good luck sorry if I wasn’t much help!

Thanks for the reply! really helpful in seeing where I am, by the way what is Naviance? What if my final gpa is higher? What then? I think I can get into pitt’s other satellite campuses but I really dont want to. I want to apply before December if you guys can think of anything that can make my application look better then please Im all ears.
