Probably going to apply anyway but just curious what you guys thought, i know its a reach but i really like the school, i'm most likely headed to The University of Michigan.

Please let me know!!

Even for in-state, you probably need to make sure you have some more matches and safeties for Michigan. Your SAT is right at the 50% mark, but your GPA is low. You should certainly apply to Kenyon, assuming it looks affordable per the net price calculator on the financial aid website page. But same as Michigan – your SAT is at the midpoint, and GPA is low. AND I am guessing you are female, which probably reduces your chances further at Kenyon. I would say it is a lowish reach for you.

@intparent‌ thanks for responding! i am actually a male, which i did not know was a positive for Kenyon, so that is awesome! also i have already met with the admissions counselor at UofM and the feedback i received was very positive, i will find out between this upcoming Friday and Christmas eve.

Admissions counselors are supposed to make you feel good and make sure you apply. Don’t read too much into it. Being male is definitely an advantage at many LACs. If you want to figure out the admissions rate by gender at any LAC (or most bigger colleges, too), do this:

 • Google “<college name=”"> Common Data Set"
 • If you have a choice of several, click on the most recent one
 • Go to section C, First Time First Year (Freshman) Admission
 • Take the number of freshman men who applied and divide it by the number of men who were admitted. Do the same with the women. </college>

For some reason I am having trouble accessing Kenyon’s page on this, but can see other LACs. If you have trouble, there may be other sources of this info (I know there are a couple of other services that strip out Common App data and present it, don’t recall their names.

I think Kenyon is great (my D2 applied and was accepted, but in the end decided to attend a STEM school). But her best friend is at Kenyon, and I really have a soft spot for it. Another school you might take a look at if you like Kenyon are Vassar (also easier to get accepted as a male).

@intparent‌ Vassar is on my list as well
