Before visiting Miami U I had low expectations that I'd hate it after I had visited Indiana...BUT I LOVED IT. I really want to go there. One problem is I love sports and I love attending sporting events but Miami doesnt seem like the place to have that feel. Thats where Indiana excels. For those who are like me who go to Miami who love sports, do you get over it? Do you just enjoy watching sporting events? I dont want to pick Miami and then hate it because of the lack of sports and school spirit. THANKS!!!!

Uh, did you go to the right Miami? Miami is all about sports…

Well they are very good at hockey and have a tremendous fan base for it. For other sports, one good thing is you know you can go to all the home games. At some of the bigger schools with much more competitive sports teams, there’s no guarantee that you can even get tickets to some of the games - a fact that a lot of students don’t even realize until they get to their schools.

Insatiablestars: Miami in Ohio, not really the school for sports

It’s funny because I got the opposite feel from Miami, maybe it was because I was visiting while their hockey team was playing Notre Dame. Hockey seems to be very big there and everyone on campus appeared to be very active and athletic. I loved the emphasis on intramural sports as well. If you loved Miami, don’t rule it out because it does have its strong sports teams.

It is still my understanding that there is low student attendance at football/basketball games, which seems to be typical for MAC schools in Ohio. “Game Day” spirit/excitement isn’t comparable for Big Ten and MAC schools.

Miami is one of tops in hockey and football team cannot do anything about it. Hockey is the game. Miami also has incredible rec. center, but if are not in swimming, you will not care one way or another.
